Over the next three weeks leading up to the NBA Draft on June 28th, we'll be conducting our own mock draft with you the fans in charge of your respective teams. Attempting to make up for years of questionable draft picks, I'm tackling the Atlanta Hawks second pick of the first round ...Considering: Spencer Hawes, Thaddeus Young, Redoing the last three drafts, and Al Thornton
With the 3rd pick in our Fan Mock Draft I choose Mike Conley Jr. for the Hawks. Finally procuring the point guard they've desperately need for at least the last decade. Last year they had the chance to pick Brandon Roy, passing on the rookie of the year for Sheldon Williams. Good luck with that. 2005 the Hawks brutal draft acumen was on full display, passing on eventual All-Star starting point guard Chris Paul and Deron Williams in favor or Marvin Williams. He could eventually turn out, but thus far he's being labeled a tweener and a disappointment. So with Mike Conley already grabbed, what should the Hawks do with the 11th pick.
Atlanta could make sure they didn't screw up on a PG and take either Crittenton or Acie Law IV, but that's a little unreasonable. Hawks need a low post scoring threat. Sheldon Williams couldn't possibly be any further from that description. And Zaza Pachulia is Zaza Pachulia.
This is an easy pick, get the best big man available and walk away from the 2007 NBA Draft as one of the winners.
Pick: Spencer Hawes, C, Washington
Up Next: GM Adam with his 76ers
