This Week in Sports
(Submitted by gearhead)
The week began with the crowning of a champion and ended with everyone waiting for Bethpage Black to dry out. The Lakers won their 15th NBA Championship, and with it came much speculation on what it means for Kobe Bryant. With the end of the NBA and NHL seasons, we’ve hit the dog days of summer, but at least Artie Lange gave us a thrill by destroying Joe Buck’s craptacular talk show. Football (as always) remained in the news, thanks to Dante Stallworth’s light legal sentence (but tough NFL penalty), Chad Ocho Cinco’s insanity, and the super-secret UFL draft. In what the rest of the world calls football, the US national team showed what their 2010 World Cup chances look like. The answer: Not good. With the weekend here, we can look forward to the conclusion of the US Open, even if it ends up being Monday or Tuesday, and the continuation of Interleague baseball. Remember when people cared about that?New on FanIQ
I’m sure you’ve noticed by now, as of last week your friends are now your followers and you are now theirs. There are some really cool advantages to this, and while it seems like a big change, it’s really rather minor. You can follow what your favorite writer, poll or quiz creator, and others are posting with a simple click of the button. You can also set your privacy preferences in “Account Settings” to require your approval to be followed or receive messages. To learn how to follow people and stop people from following you, please check out the FAQ’s or ask me or another moderator for help. For some ideas on fun people to follow, visit the Suggested Fans page frequently, and if you want to nominate a fan to follow, send me a message with the fan’s user name and what you feel they add to FanIQ! If you haven’t already, learn more about it in Ty’s blog!

Fun & Games
When you come inside after the BBQ's and boating, and all that other fun summer stuff, you’ll no doubt want to relax with some fun and games on the Q. Cruising up on football season, why not start off with an NCAA Football Nicknames quiz? Or maybe you’d rather focus on the NFL by proving your knowledge of Past and Present Quarterbacks, share your thoughts on the Top 5 Quarterbacks to Win the Super Bowl or the Worst QB to Ever Start a Game, or the Top 10 Head Coaches. How do you feel about Donte Stallworth’s sentence? If you’re a fantasy footballer, who are your favorites going into the season? And everyone loves a “Guess Who I Cheer For” NFL quiz, or “Which NBA Dance Team...” in the NBA…If you’re a fan of soccer, you probably have an opinion about the future of Manchester United with the loss of Ronaldo, and if you’re a Man U fan, you’ve probably even thought about who might be a good replacement for him on the team. Do you have any matches you’re looking forward to more than others in the FIFA Confederations Cup group matches?...Those boys of summers’ bats are swinging, and they’ll get you some points here on FanIQ with RBI Leaders quizzes, Hitters polls, and don’t forget to Chase Joe D every day for a chance to win 1,000 bonus points!...and if you’re lookin’ for something shiny for your trophy case, start by taking the Nascar Sprint Cup Commissioner Challenge or the Wimbledon Prediction poll! What's Cool

Fan Libs
This week we’re introducing a new section of the weekly highlights called Fan Libs. Every week there will be a poll to participate by contributing your words, and in the Site Highlights every week will be a paragraph with some of your words plugged in. Q members whose words are chosen will get their name up in lights in this blog every week, so go give us your suggestions - the crazier the better! Start now by participating in the poll for next week's Fan Libs!
