FanIQ GameDay Live: Wild Card Weekend Edition - Sunday

1/5/14 in NFL   |   Jess   |   34417 respect

Happy NFL Playoffs, football fans! How did you enjoy yesterday's games? That Chiefs/Colts game was something else, huh? Nail-biters, both of them. I'm betting it's only going to get better from here. I missed on both of my picks yesterday, and I'm pretty sure I'll miss on at least one of them today.

If you had a chance to check out yesterday's game thread, you know we've got a little different format this weekend than what we had over the course of the regular season. We have representatives for all of the Wild Card teams joining us with their thoughts and game picks!

The Bengals were such a hard team to get a read on. They have some really good players at the skill positions Green, Sanu, Jones, Bernard. Andy Dalton is good most of the time but as a team their offense leaves some clunkers out there. The Bengals D has been solid despite some injuries to key players (Leon Hall and Geno Atkins). The Chargers. They barely beat the Chiefs second team in a game they absolutely had to have to get into the playoffs. All I remember from this season for the Chargers is that they beat the Eagles and Broncos by possessing the ball blah blah blah and in doing so they made those games unwatchable. Bengals?

Mike
Like how San Diego is playing right and Dalton is frustratingly inconsistent. SD in an upset 20-17.

Marcus
San Diego vs. Cincy The Bengals head coach, Marv Lewis, has never won a playoff game and their QB is more erratic than Linsay Lohan. I don’t trust either of them. The Chargers snuck into the playoffs on what was a missed “gimme” field goal and blown call by the referees on the kick, because of course they did. The Football Gods are apparently “all in” on the once prodigal son, Philip Rivers, right now. Also Norv Turner won’t be involved this year. That’s HUGE. This is my Wild Card upset special. San Diego 23 Cincinnati 19

Oddfool
My home team Chargers are definitely in this by pure wildcard chance. (The kind that tends to favor Fools.) The Bengals are undefeated at home, and it's gonna be cold in Cincinnati. The Chargers did beat the Broncos, but spent their last two weeks in sunny San Diego. We're gonna be popsicles. But, since they are expected to lose, and they do tend to surprise opponents at random, I'm going to go with this... Foolish Forecast: Chargers taming the Bengals 24-21

Mike G.
Dalton-Bernard- Green...Bengals end the 23 year drought without a postseason win. My lock of the week. Prediction Chargers 17 Bengals 27.

Chris
Cincy

Michael G
Cincinnati Bengals 31 - San Diego Chargers 20

I think successful Dalton might be a product of his offensive line...I remember a guy who had enough time in the pocket to go out for a gyro and come back before he had to worry about it collapsing, so his accuracy may have been a bit skewed...that's who young Andy reminds me of. I might be wrong; I haven't been able to watch the Bengals much this season. Anyway, San Diego might surprise some people...I think they'll make it a game, but Bengals ultimately win this round.

It's really frustrating to see a team like the Bengals who have a top 10 defense, some decent offensive weapons like A.J. Green, Jermaine Gresham, and Giovani Bernard along with some Wild Card playoff experience to still come up short year in and year out...  Sometimes winning the division and making the playoffs isn't enough especially with Marvin Lewis having a track record of a 0-5 postseason record.  The AFC North is going to be up for grabs next season.

Classic. I remember where I was too. It's one of those great sports moments and I'm not a fan of either team.

I went 0-4 this weekend (though, I knew the Eagles and Packers picks were long shots, so that's my fault.)
