FanIQ GameDay Live: Week 10
Welcome, Christi! Let's do this...
Seahawks (8-1) @ Falcons (2-6)
Christi - The Falcons lineup looks more like an infirmary than a football team. And so does Seattle’s O-line. Seattle may not have looked pretty this past week, but their defense is 2nd best in the NFL in yards allowed (296/game)/passing yards allowed (179.8). And they’re tied for first in interceptions with Denver (13). 49-24, Seattle. (Jess, I hope I haven’t been the kiss of death for Seattle this week).
Jess - This game has me terrified. I know the Seahawks want to go down and get revenge from last year's Divisional Playoff game. It's a 10am gametime, on the road, against a team that may or may not be tougher than their record. Our offense is underperforming, due in part to a makeshift line, and Wilson has been taking a beating. I can only hope the Falcons D-line is sub-par, and that the Hawks have solved their run D woes.
Lions (5-3) @ Bears (5-3)
Christi - I’m looking forward to this one. This matchup is fairly even. Since Chicago just came off a big MNF win over Green Bay, the Bears have some momentum going into this game along with the home field advantage. Chicago, 27-24.
Jess - I hear Jay Cutler is coming back earlier than expected, and will play in this NFC North matchup? Best of luck to him and his guys. If they were in Detroit, I think this pick would be easier for me and I'd side with the Lions. I'm still standing by that pick, but I'm not as confident.
Eagles (4-5) @ Packers (5-3)
Christi - Seneca Wallace was underwhelming (at the very least) at the helm last week against Chicago. Nick Foles and the Eagles have not performed well at home, and have shown flashes of greatness away from home. The Eagles just may have a shot at….never mind. Green Bay, 28-17.
Jess - I think this game will be a lot more interesting than it looks. The Eagles are like Jekyll & Hyde. Which Philly team will we get this week? And I know next to nothing about the Pack, other than the fact that Matthews is back and he will be wearing a club on his hand. My Eagles pick has nothing to do with my confidence in Philadelphia and everything to do with the fact that Seneca Wallace started some games for my Seahawks back in the day, and I know how that generally turns out.
Jaguars (0-8) @ Titans (4-4)
Christi - And Jacksonville carries a goose egg into week 11. Tennessee, 9-0.
Jess - I have got to believe that the Jags will win at least one game this year. I just don't think it'll be today.
Rams (3-6) @ Colts (6-2)
Christi - A healthy Sam Bradford would make this matchup more interesting. Even if the Rams get some success with their running game (I see you, Zac Stacy), the Colts will shut it down enough to pull out the win. 31-17, Indianapolis.
Jess - I'm not sure the score will show that big a difference, but I do think Indy will win. That Rams front 7 is tough, and although Luck is mobile and a quick decision maker, I wouldn't be surprised to see him spend some time on his back. It won't matter though; Luck has a deep threat in TY Hilton, and I think that might be where the Rams are lacking on D.
Raiders (3-5) @ Giants (2-6)
Christi - It’s the battle of the underachievers! Giants, 10-3.
Jess - If the Giants are pulling that thing they do where they suck it up early and then finish the year strong, I think they'll win this one easier. If not, the Raiders might just pull this off. McFadden's out, but Pryor is a threat on the ground too. Eenie-meenie-miney...I'm taking the Raiders.
Bills (3-6) @ Steelers (2-6)
Christi - As much as I hate to do this, I will. And maybe by doing so, I will be the kiss of death for Buffalo. Buffalo, 14-10.
Jess - Ya know, Christi - I think the Steelers are going to win this, and here's why: Both teams are struggling mightily, but not only have the Steelers stayed in games, they've been relatively consistent. Buffalo is hurting, and although they've got EJ Manuel back, I think he'll be too rusty to be able to do much.
Bengals (6-3) @ Ravens (3-5)
Christi - Cincinnati fans in this area are pretty pleased with their team, as they should be. Baltimore gets spanked at home. Cincinnati, 21-13
Jess - The Ravens look awful this year, and Andy Dalton has been getting time in the pocket, his offensive line and AJ Green making him look better than I think he really is. And that Cincy D is legit. I don't think they have much problem with this game.
Panthers (5-3) @ 49ers (6-2)
Christi - This is another close one this week. I’ll take San Francisco with the home advantage for $100, Alec.
Jess - Ya know...I think that the Panthers will give San Francisco a tougher game than they're expecting. Carolina has been somewhat overlooked, while quietly winning games. I'm not entirely sure it'll be enough; the Niners are a tough team. But the Panthers will give them hell. I hope my pick is wrong, but I have to go with SF for the simple reason that they seem to be out to irk me.
Texans (2-6) @ Cardinals (4-4)
Christi - Houston is imploding, but I think they’ll pull it together long enough this week to win one for the Kubiak. Houston, 21-18.
Jess - I think you're right, Christi. I'm not sure that the Cardinals offensive line is built to withstand the wrath of JJ Watt & Co., and Case Keenum is showing some flashes of promise. As long as he doesn't make any stupid mistakes, stays away from Patrick Peterson, he should be okay. Houston almost pulled it off last week. I think they'll do it today.
Broncos (7-1) @ Chargers (4-4)
Christi - Denver’s had a week to get some rest. And Peyton will be too much for San Diego’s pass defense. Denver, 35-21.
Jess - The Broncos are kicking some butt and the Chargers are a little better than expected. Being a division game, I think it'll go back and forth...until Phillip Rivers has a meltdown and throws 3 picks in the 4th quarter, allowing Denver to run away with it.
Cowboys (5-4) @ Saints (6-2)
Christi - A team that is perfect at home this season faces the worst pass defense in the league. No voodoo dolls necessary. New Orleans, 42-24.
Jess - Who the hell is his Cowboy team? And I was shocked...SHOCKED...that the Saints lost to the Jets. I don't think they'll lose like that again for awhile. I'm hoping the next time will be 12/2. (*crossing fingers*) I don't think that Dallas's defense has what it takes to stop Drew Brees. This'll be a shootout, I think, with New Orleans coming out on top.
MNF Bonus Pick:
Dolphins (4-4) @ Buccaneers (0-8)
Christi - I’m not sure Tampa can buy a win this season. Miami, 24-20.
Jess - These two teams are an absolute mess, between the Schiano debacle and the Dolphins dumpster fire right now. I think that the Dolphins have more "now" distractions though, and the Bucs are actually starting to look better. They came to play last week, and lost in heartbreaking fashion. I think they carry that moral victory and momentum into this game and take care of the Dolphins for their first win.
Thanks again for joining us, Christi - I hope you run the table with your picks; specifically that Seattle/Atlanta game!
