FanIQ GameDay Live: Week 15

Blog Photo - FanIQ Live Week 14 NFL Game ThreadHappy Sunday, football fans! We're getting closer to having a clear picture of what the playoffs look like, cruising into the last few regular season games! There are a few clinching scenarios this week, though it's a little late and I completely spaced this blog until just now. Lucky for me, my guest host for today sent me his picks nice and early this week and saved my behind! Nick is joining me today with his picks. Nick is a fellow NFL and hockey enthusiast, as well as a Locker Room regular here. Welcome, Nick! Let's do this...

Early Games:
Redskins @ Falcons on FOX
Nick - yikes! This may end up in a tie…..Atlanta at home, I think, is the safe pick with this one. And, RGIII may be shut down for the rest of the year, since Washington has been eliminated. Personally, I just want to see JenX & Ashlie trash talk each other. Prediction: Atl 34, Was 30

Jess - With these two defenses, I think it'll look more like a Madden shootout score than a normal football score. I kind of feel like for the most part, Atlanta's been staying in games and just falling short this year. It breaks my heart for their fans. They may just run away with this one though.

Seahawks @ Giants on FOX
Nick - Seattle has coast to coast after losing to their arch nemesis SF 49'ers. They are not in a good mood and teams traveling from one coast to the other, usually lose. Meanwhile, NY has been a Jeckyl & Hyde team all season…They lose their first 6 then win their next 4, then lose, then win, then lose. I really don't like to see Jess upset as much as she has been lately, so I am taking Seattle. Prediction: Sea 20, NYG 13

Jess - Whaaaaaat? I haven't been upset! I'm having a pretty good year, actually...between the Seahawks doing well, the Mariners recently signing apparently one of the best 2nd basemen in the game (and making some other decent moves,) the Ducks kicking some butt...my sports world is kind of goofy giddy right now. The Giants scare me with their Jekyll & Hyde act. As per usual, I won't make a prediction. And as per usual, I'll just hope for an injury-free game and for the guys to play their best.

Bears @ Browns on FOX
Nick - Mama mia…….On paper, Chicago should win this game, but, our defense couldn't stop a 1 legged turtle and our head coach is coaching to not lose. I don't think anyone has anything good to say about Cleveland, and that includes their fans…..no, seriously! Prediction: Chi 24, Cle 16

Jess - Cutler's back, no? Not that it matters, it's not as if McCown has been bad. Regardless, I think Chicago wins this too.

Texans @ Colts on CBS
Nick - I keep picking Houston to win, thinking they will pull it together. I am confused with why this team sucks this year. Indy blew their load too early…..They have struggles, BIG TIME, the past 4-5 weeks. Has anyone seen Trent Richardson?! WTF? Prediction: Ind 31, Hou 27

Jess - Does this kind of feel like a trap game to anybody else? I know that Houston is suffering some major issues right now at QB and now their head coach is gone. It's been insane. But the Colts haven't been impressive either, and I know these two teams always play each other tough. I know I said I was going to quit picking these guys, but I kind of have a weird suspicion that the Texans come out on top today.

Patriots @ Dolphins on CBS
Nick - NE sure likes to make things interesting! 3 weeks in a row with come from behind wins…..they remind me of this girl in HS that used to tease all of the guys, but, at the end of the day, she……well….never mind. Prediction: NE 37, Mia 24

Jess - Oh Lord. I know everybody's making a big deal about Gronk being out now, and sure - that's a big deal. However, as cliché as this is, Tom Brady just keeps finding ways to win regardless. I think Miami will keep it pretty close, but in the end, Pats win.

Eagles @ Vikings on FOX
Nick - Minnesota has been playing much better football these past 4 weeks and are better than their record. Philly has had to overcome a lot this year. Foles is playing as good as any QB out there. AP may not be playing and because I'm a Bears fan, I cannot root for a team in our division and for that reason alone, I'm taking Philly. Prediction: Phi 27, Min 20

Jess - The Eagles have a pretty surprisingly stout defense, and their offense can be explosive. Minnesota has neither of those two things. This could be pretty ugly...I don't think it'll be as close as your predicted score. Eagles.

49ers @ Buccaneers on FOX
Nick - Emotional win for SF last week against Seattle. Is this the "let down", "trap" game? Tampa has played better as of late. I think Captain Morgan gets too drunk and falls to those Niners! Prediction: SF 31, TB 17

Jess - I know I have to hope against all hope that the Bucs can pull this off. I also know that there's a snowball's chance in hell that they do. Who knows, though. Because I do have a little bit of realist in my blood, I have to go with the Niners here.

Bills @ Jaguars on CBS
Nick - (yawn) Sorry folks, but, I don't really care about either of these teams, this year I did have Fred Jackson on 1 of my Fantasy teams, so, I'll pick Buffalo….Prediction: Buf 24, Jax 20

Jess - So what you're saying is, this is your "woof" game? I agree that it looks 'blah' on paper, but I think it will be a battle...a fun one to watch. I won't be watching, of course, my Seahawks are on at the same time. But I do think it'll be a fun close one. The Jaguars are playing better as of late, and I have no idea what the hell the Bills are doing. I'm picking Jacksonville.

Late Games:
Chiefs @ Raiders on CBS
Nick - What an incredible turnaround the Chiefs have had since last year. Oakland - same ole story, sorry Kat, but your team is drinking too much Tequila. Prediction: KC 37, Oak 23

Jess - This is another one of those games that I think will be closer than anybody anticipates. Division rival game, in the inferior team's house, crazy crowd...you just never know. Kansas City is obviously the better team, but Oakland might pull it off. That realist is popping in again...Chiefs.

Jets @ Panthers on CBS
Nick - Sorry, Jet fans, but, no way your team wins in Carolina unless Newton gets knocked out….and, even then…..Carolina looked BAD Sunday night against Nawlins. Still, Car is the dark horse in the NFC and could be surprise in the Playoff picture. Prediction: Car 20, NYJ 13

Jess - I'm not quite sure the Panthers are the type of team to get demoralized; rather, I think they'll come out swinging and give the Jets a good ol' punch in the mouth. I predict a pretty lopsided game; with as good as Carolina's defense is and as well as they can move the ball on offense, the Jets are going to have to eat their Wheaties to even keep it close. Panthers.

Packers @ Cowboys on FOX
Nick - Will GB shelf Rodgers for the rest of the year? Will Dallas figure out how much better they can be with a new coaching staff? Does this article writer give a rats ass? This Bears fan HAS TO root for Dallas in this one….no, seriously, I have to….it's as if someone is holding a gun to my head and making me chose. Prediction: * Dal 34, GB 26 (* - notes prediction with Rodgers out of the game)

Jess - Ugh. I really want the Packers to beat the Cowboys but I'm not quite sure that's going to happen with Aaron Rodgers out. The good news is, Dallas's defense sucks. Even with Flynn, the Pack might just barely get past them. You know what? That's what I'm sticking with.

Cardinals @ Titans on FOX
Nick - Kenne needs to rest his liver from all of the winning he has celebrated with his Cards. Tennessee needs to rest their defense after all of the scoring that Denver had last week, Prediction: Ten 19, Arz 16 (in OT)

Jess - Yea, these Cardinals have come out of nowhere. I kind of hope they keep winning, SF loses a couple, and we have some gold old fashioned NFC West drama (of course, in order for this NOT to give me an aneurysm, the Seahawks must take care of business as well.)  I think they have a great chance against Tennessee. I'm with you on a possible OT outcome, but flip the score.

Saints @ Rams on FOX
Nick - Trap game? Could this be a let down/trap game for Nawlins after that emotion win against Carolina? Also, Nawlins play much better, defensively, at home than on the road. STL has shown flashes of being a good team, but, are too consistent. Prediction: NO 34, STL 20

Jess - Yikes. I'm not sure that it'll be a trap game. Although we've seen what the Rams defense can do, the Saints are just too powerful, and the Rams play in a dome...I think that might be a big deal when it comes to New Orleans' road woes. St. Louis may keep it close, but I predict the Saints will walk away with another win.

Primetime Game:
Bengals @ Steelers on NBC
Nick - Pittsburgh laid a HUGE egg last week with a home loss to Miami. They pretty much need to win out to make the playoffs. Cincinnati has been pretty consistent all year, but, this is a division game and they are on the road. Prediction: Pit 20, Cin 17 (in OT)

Jess - I'm not just saying this because I'm not a fan of the boys in yellow and black...but Cincy's by far the better team here. I'm sure they'll battle it out as division foes usually do, but in the end that Bengals defense is much too tough for Big Ben & Co. this year. I think Cincinnati puts up another W in a close one.

MNF Bonus Picks:
Ravens @ Lions on ESPN/WatchESPN
Nick - Again, this article writer CANNOT predict a Detroit win due to his ties with Da Bears. The defending Super Bowl champs coming off a come from behind last minute win vs. a team that got white washed (literally) in Philly. Detroit has been know to choke late in the year when they have had good starts….Hey, these are facts, not my opinions (be nice). Prediction: Balt 31, Det 27

Jess - Hmmm...I usually make my MNF prediction on my MNF thread but I'll make a pre-prediction. I'm calling this one in favor of Detroit tomorrow.

Thanks, Jess!

Thank you, Nick, for taking the time to send in your picks for this week's games! Everyone else - what are your predictions? Who are you watching? Grab a seat, a drink, and some snacks, and Q it up here for a full day of football on FanIQ!

The Steelers had this game well in hand, and all of a sudden it's still not over.

12/15/13   |   Eric_   |   7716 respect

As if I didn't hate the Steelers enough, Brown and Bell have already basically caused me to lose my fantasy semifinal.

12/15/13   |   RaiderSteeler15   |   21423 respect

I seriously don't think the Dallas Cowboys deserves to win the NFC East and make the playoffs...  That Cowboys' defense is the worst defense in the league... So much for Jerry Jones for giving Romo that $108 million contract with $55 Million guaranteed money and a $25 million bonus...  As long as Romo continues to choke and lose games in December week in and week out, this cowboys team will continue to be stuck in a barrel as far as them not winning a super bowl.  It's really ridiculous that Romo got that contract in the 1st place...

Seriously...any Cowboys fan I know who's on twitter is saying that ish right now. C'mon...it's a little bit Romo's fault, let's be honest.

IKR?  He may put up good numbers...until the fourth quarter.

U sure did! Cowboy fans are gonna hate you for that comment lol.  They are going to think that u had something to do with the outcome of today's game! lol

The question remains, will the Dallas Cowboys lose to the RG3-Less Washington 'Skins next Sunday in Fex-Ex Field?  I got a strange feeling that the Eagles will win the NFC East this season...

12/15/13   |   Eric_   |   7716 respect

It's when I'm at my most pessimistic and angry that things seem to turn around. I know I don't deserve it, but I'll take it.

12/15/13   |   RaiderSteeler15   |   21423 respect

Way to go Cowboys...  The December Curse continues for Tony Romo as he struggles to win games in December...  The Eagle fans should be partying for the week as they hold on to 1st place of the NFC East and maintain the 3rd place spot of the NFC Wild Card...

Season over. Bears and Cowboys fans happy. *Bleep* this *bleeping* sport that kills people while we watch like the stupid sheep we are.

Uhm...as much as I agree something needs to be done about the whole concussion deal and other things, I don't think I watch this sport because I'm a sheep. Sheep just do something because everybody else is doing it or they just don't know any better...I love the sport. Period. Screw what everybody else is doing.

Kellen Clemens to Corey Harkey for a 31 yard touchdown for the Rams

Just like the Rams front office drew it up in the preseason, I'm sure

Yay!!! My power is back on!  Roads are crap, so I wrapped presents.  Congrats to the Redskins for showing that they can fall short in the fourth quarter, no matter who is throwing the ball.  indecision
What a day.

Well so far not good for my picks :/ I need to stop overthinking it and just quick-pick these things.

As long as your seahawks got the win today, it should be all good :]

Things have really gotten interesting in the most dramatic division in football-- The NFC East, The Eagles were in 1st place now they could fumble that spot back to the Cowboys if Dallas win today against Green Bay...

Nobody is happier that the Redskins went for two and missed it more then the St. Louis Rams front office.

12/15/13   |   Eric_   |   7716 respect

Normally I'd be all in on Pats hate, but:

1.) Brady is my fantasy QB, and it's playoff time.
2.) This ends the dream of Jacksonville making the playoffs, which I was rooting for for the lulz.
3.) This helps Team Bully.

Huge win for the Dolphins over the Patriots opens the door once again for the Broncos to get the best record in the AFC

Redskins/Falcons have combined for 3 lost fumbles in the last 3 plays.  I've seen better play in pee wee football

INT in the end zone for the Bears offense.  Looks like Jay Cutler hasn't missed a beat

Today might be the day I have to temporarily unfollow DC Sports Bog on Twitter. Not sure I'll be able to take the RTs of people changing Kirk Cousins draft value every pass, or worse, advocating for trading RGIII for a conditional 5th rounder.

The Packers/Cowboys game will be a test to see if football can still make me angry enough to throw things.
