Seahawks @ Falcons
This one is easy for me to pick even though I have always dug Pete "The Man" Carroll (loves his enthusiasm), Jess-bot, and Thomas. Beans loves the Falcons. He's one of my bestest friends. He was with me every step of the way during the Kings Stanley Cup run (and trust me, I am a mess when watching. He kept me calm.) This is a no brainer. I am picking the Falcons...even though the Seahawks are looking to become only the 2nd team from the west coast to win back-to-back playoff games on the east coast; the first being the Rams in 1989 (aww Jim Everett...) - seriously, I just read that little factoid. Anywhoo...Beans is great and the Falcons win by 7 or 3 or 10 or 1...making his day.
Of course the two teams that have been there the least have to play each other. I really hope for Seattle's sake they win. People in that city are suicidal for some kind of championship. Poor city...haven't had anything decent since Courtney Love shot Kurt Cobain. Oh come on, you know she did it. Anyway...I don't think that Matty Ice gets enough check downs to pull this one out. Seattle 24, Atlanta 21.
Jess: ...Jason, don't worry about us. We still have the WNBA Storm, the MLS Sounders, the MLB Marin...well...we have the Storm and the Sounders. And a possible deal brewing to bring an NBA team back to Seattle, which would also effectively get the ball rolling for the NHL to land there. Oh who am I kidding. You're right. But I digress...This game scares me. Though Marshawn Lynch has been listed as Probably throughout the season and missed quite a few practices due to back spasms, rumor has it he has a sprained foot now. However, he is probable again, so he may be fine. He's got a great FB in front of him in Michael Robinson, and Turbin has given us a few good runs. The main thing I'm worried about is how our secondary will match up against Atlantas receivers. Their D is good but they have allowed some big plays, especially in road games. They can't do that with Atlanta. Again, this game scares me.
Texans @ Patriots:
If there was a football God he'd let the Texans win, simply based on Tom Brady's ridiculous hairstyle. Not to mention, the Texans have some of the most fun guys tweeting...and that wins in my book. I really really really want the Texans to win this game, but after watching the last couple games I just don't see it. Foster can't do it alone. Eff it! I'm picking them. By a lot. Surprising everyone NOT a Texans fan.
Oh effing facepalm. There is almost nothing better in football than seeing the Brady pout face. Li'l Manning's open mouth re-re face ranks up there. Philip Rivers' temper tantrums are always amusing. Roethlisberger mean mugging with his rapey eyes is chuckle-worthy. But there is just something that makes the whole world seem balanced when the camera cuts to Brady on the sideline with his emo-haired head cradled in his undersized fem-hands. Sigh. Unfortunately I don't think the world gets righted this weekend. Texans 17, Patriots 37.
Ugh. I just have a feeling the Patriots are going to win this one easily and I don't like it. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see it. Bill Belichick and Tom Brady are ridiculous. I hope the Texans play like they did to start off the season and that the Pats play like they did in the first half of the San Francisco game. Can we get that? Please? Somehow I doubt it.
That's it for this week, folks! Who do you think wins today? Q it up here all day during the games, while we find out who faces the Ravens and 49ers in the Conference Championship games!
