You want the fans take on the NFL Draft, that's what you're going to get. Over the next 3 weeks we'll be conducting our own Mock Draft with fans of the respective teams (in most cases) playing GM. With the 3rd pick, Seth takes on his Cleveland Browns ...
3rd pick, Cleveland Browns: Adrian Peterson, RB, Oklahoma
Strongly Considered: JaMarcus Russell and Brady Quinn
Explanation: The Browns offense has been not been described with what anyone would call nice words, so it's apparent this is the side of the ball that needs to be addressed. The defense will naturally improve just by not playing 3/4 of every game.
Now many people, including some Cleveland higher ups, don't want to pass on a "franchise" QB, but I'm just not sold on Quinn or Russell as being a sure thing, 100% all the way kind of guys. I would have preferred to address Cleveland's offense line because that is where the offense starts, but after Detroit selected Joe Thomas, the next best pick isn't worth the #3 choice.
So this leaves us with Adrian Peterson. Two years ago Reuben Droughns had Cleveland's first 1000 yard rusher since 1985. That's it, once in over 20 years. Peterson will end this trend, although not likely until next year since Jamal Lewis will be getting some carries for one season. The Browns added Eric Steinbach to help the line, and if they are lucky, LaCharles Bentley will be able to play again in 2008 and not have to retire due to injury. For the first time since the days of Kevin Mack and Ernest Byner, the Browns will have a legitimate run threat, meaning Charlie Frye or Derek Anderson, or whichever QB the Browns draft in round 2 or 3, will be able to make more plays as opposing defense will have to respect the running game for a change.
Then again, in real life with both Russell and Quinn available at the #3 pick, there will probably be a couple teams looking to trade up too.
Previous Selections:
1. Oakland Raiders - WR Calvin Johnson
2. Detroit Lions - OT Joe Thomas
Up Next: Tampa Bay Buccaneers and GM MarktheShark

As long as no one starts posting new comments in my old posts where I made lousy predictions I'm good.

I wanted the Browns to get Thomas (which they did) but in the this mock draft he was gone so I wanted Peterson who would also have been great.
Plus I have it in writing that I didn't think Russell or Quinn was the answer as a future QB.
I'll have to look it up but I think in this Q user mock Russell didn't go until lioke pick 17...for the record I picked Amobi Okoye and NOT Gaines Adams for the Buccaneers

It's nice to see written proof that I occasionally make a smart prediction.
