There have been a lot of comments in the polls and forums regarding FanIQ's new Fantasy feature and the confusion that some people may be having, so a little tutorial seemed in order.
First Step - You'll need to get to the Fantasy page, and the banner won't be on the homepage forever. So, go to your profile and click whichever sport you're interested in playing (NFL is all that's available now, but there will be more shortly).
You can also use the pull down menu at the top of any page in the navigation bar:
Second Step - Now you'll want to go to the main Challenge page. Do this by clicking "Start a Challenge".
This will also take you to the correct page to see upcoming, current, and past challenges.
Third Step - Decide on a game, the wager, and who you want to challenge.
Now you just need to challenge one of your friends or set up/join an Open Challenge.
Click here to see how to set up an Open Challenge.
If you're in the middle of drafting your players and get stopped up, you can refer to this (located on the left side of the page in fantasy) rather than coming back to this blog:
See each point in detail below:
1: Click on a position:
2 & 3: Select Starter and Alternate in that Position; Select players for all positions:
If you've set up a match recently and you want to be lazy or you're positive your lineup is the BEST possible lineup of players that you can have, you can reload your players chosen in the last match you set up:
4. Rank Players:
You only rank the players you choose as starters. You do this because of the way the draft is; you'll want to rank the players that are most important to you to draft at the top. The higher you rank your players, the more likely you are to get them in the draft. For example; if I'm playing against JemJenn and we both have chosen Peyton Manning as our starting QB, whoever has him ranked highest in their rankings will get him. If we both have him ranked the same (say, 1) then it's a virtual coin flip. Generally I select my players in the order of which I know I'll be ranking them by position, so I don't really do the rankings much but everyone does it differently.
5. Click on "Submit My Draft"
Now the system does everything else.
To see your upcoming challenges, just click "Upcoming Challenges" on the fantasy page. There, you'll see which ones you've paid, which ones you have to still select players for, and which ones are all set and ready to go. If you've somehow lost an email or shout out for a challenge, you can also retrieve the pending request at the very top of your "Upcoming Challenges":
As for which players to pick - most of you who follow football even casually will recognize names; and the best players are at the top of the pile (players are listed by this season's rank). Those of you who don't follow football at all - pick the top players, or players whose names appeal to you for some reason, or ask one of the people on the leader board for advice, etc.
Let me know if you have further questions about this. It really is an extremely easy process, all things considered. Much simpler than just starting out in a big fantasy league, live drafts, etc.
