FanIQ Spotlight Fan of the Week 2/9
FanIQ Spotlight Fan of the Week: nyrangers
Bringing forth FanIQ's greatest asset every Monday - you! This week's Spotlight Fan is undoubtedly someone you've seen cruising the Q in game forums and the Locker Room. You might know him as the site's very own "Towelie". FanIQ's presents to you...nyrangers, AKA Scott...

Name:
Scott, which is kind of dull. I wish I had a sweet name like "Colton" or "Jebodiah" or something
General Location: I live at home in Connecticut, with my parents, but I go to college in Bristol, RI at Roger WIlliams University
Job: Worked at Wal-Mart until I realized the sheer evil of it...gonna look for a part-time job over summer to pay for school. Otherwise I am a full-time student
Favorite Teams: NY Rangers, NY Mets, NY Giants, NY Knicks
Least Favorite Teams: NJ Devils, NY Islanders, Pittsburgh Penguins, Carolina Hurricanes Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, NY Jets, Philadelphia Philies, Atlanta Braves, NJ Nets...wow I sound like a total b***c
Favorite Experts: Bill Clement, Sam Rosen, Steve Philips
Least Favorite Experts: Joe Buck, Mike Milbury, Pierre McGuire, Don Cherry...just because you wear a really goofy outfit every other day doesn't magically give you incredible hockey knowledege and the right to say whatever the hell you want
Favorite Movie: I have a ton, but #1 would absolutely be Happy Gilmore. Closely followed by Robin Hood: Men in Tights (no, not an adult movie), 300, Braveheart, Major Payne, The Mighty Ducks, and any movie with Jackie Chan
Favorite TV Show: #1 would be Scrubs followed by Family Guy, South Park, Psych, The Simpsons, Futurama, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and any 90's cartoons

Who was your favorite athlete growing up?

Tino Martinez, which actually brings up a weird story. I used to be a Yankees fan because my dad was and he was a HUGE baseball fan, so he kind of turned me into one. But once I was able to make a decision for myself (around 8 years old) I became BOTH a Mets fan and Yankees fan because my mom was a Mets fan, but shortly after that I became a full-fledged Metropolitan. I still liked Tino (what ever happened to his role on "Baseball Tonight"?) because he is quite simply the man. I also liked Adam Graves, Theo Fleury (the crazy guy), and Micheal Strahan

What’s your most cherished sports memory?
Hah. Playing sports, that would be the goal I scored off of my ass in the semi-finals of a tournament on my travel soccer team. I usually play defense but for some reason I was up front and I just went to the net and my teammate shot it towards me and I deflected it off, well, my backside. It was the only goal I ever scored, and it was awesome.
Watching pro sports it would probably be the Giants winning the Super Bowl two years ago, and I can't really remember the Rangers Cup win as I was only 5, but I kind of remember the parade after in NYC.

One of the most underrated members of the site.

Great interview Scott.  (except for one of those teams you hate that I will not mention).  That cost you "perfect interview" status.

I hate the Rangers, so it's even lol.  Great interview, and too bad, I thought we really had a towel roaming around the Q.

and just out of curiosity...why was it on 3 different pages vs one that it normally is? (at least for me).

Probably so it would be an easier read and not one long page....that or Jess just likes him better than you

It makes it easier to read - Jubanator was right about that. If you'd rather read it in one page though there's the option :)

As far as me liking him better - I don't play favorites

well  i'd probably curl up with a towel before a license plate also, and he has been featured before me, and she probably likes the rangers better than the hurricanes, but that doesn't mean she likes him better than me....

but it probably does....

Great Read.... Thanks for taking the time to do this Scott and Jess for writing it.  Always nice to learn more about the people on here.....

And Scott.... I'm glad to hear you are looking forward to Avery coming back to the Rangers.  I agree with you that he will bring something to the team....

Don't worry, this is only because you were in the spotlight.  When the next person is interviewed, we'll go right back to harassing you on a daily basis.

Really great job ( Go Braves) with interview, Jess. You continue to amaze us (Go Braves) all. Wonderful interview, Scott (Go Braves). It is nice to see the face behind the towel(ie).  Good stuff all the way around...
