We're glad to see Nick back with us, and hope he stays longer this time! Let's get to know him a bit better...
Birthday: December 11
Work: Product Specialist with Apple, Inc.

Favorite Quote: "Actually, I don't remember being born. It must of been during one of my black outs." – Jim Morrison
What’s your idea of a perfect day?
Tough question! I never really thought about it....On a whim, maybe a day game at Wrigley Field, followed by an outdoor concert at night or an all day/night date with Torrie Wilson (hubba hubba).
What’s the best job you’ve ever had, and why would you consider it better than your others?
Best job was probably my Client Relations job I had at Experian. I loved the people I worked with, the pay was really good and the company was pretty good to me. Haven't really had that combination anywhere else. I really like my current job but the pay and standing all day really sucks!
If you could have any job in sports, what would it be and why?
I would love to be an owner or even a GM of the Blackhawks or Cubs. They are my 2 favorite teams and actually, I would love to do anything within the sports field with any NHL, MLB, NFL or NBA team!
You have a son – tell us about him; how old is he, what’s he into, and what’s your favorite way to spend your time together?
My son's name is Anthony. He just turned 14 on Aug 3rd. Anthony's into girls (takes after his old man) and skate board apparel. He's trying out for baseball this year (his freshman yr.) and wants to try out for football next year. When he visits me, I used to like to take him to sporting events a lot but since the loss of my job 2.5 yrs ago and an extreme decrease in pay, we don't that as much as we may see a movie every once in awhile. The key for me is just to spend time, even if it's on the couch watching TV. It's not what you do as much as it is just being together and creating memories. I just hope, someday soon, I can provide more and better than I can currently in other areas. It's not about money with me as much as it is about me being able to provide the best that I can.
What are your favorite types of games to attend, and what makes them more special or exciting to you than others?
My favorite games to attend are the Blackhawks and Bears followed by baseball, whether it's the Cubs or
Sox...of course, the Cubs are my team of choice and Wrigley is much more fun to hang out at, before and after the game. The Hawks, because they are my #1 sports team and I am just a huge fan of Hockey, I even have a tattoo of the Blackhawks Indian Head on my right shoulder that I drew and had done back in 1993. The Bears, because of the tailgating before-hand and because, as a kid, I used to go and stand on the field for the home games, due to my grandfather working there. I also played football for 8 years (ages 11-18). The way I see it, hockey & football ROCK, playing or watching, whereas, with baseball, I love and I'm passionate about playing more so than watching.
My favorite NFL player of all time is Walter Payton. Rumor has it that you had the unique opportunity to meet him. How did that come about, and what was he like?
It was his 2nd yr in the NFL. My grandfather worked at Soldier Field and used to take me to all the home games. I would get to the field before the players. I had a special pass I wore around my neck and one of my grandpa's co-workers used to take me into the locker room. So, over the years, I got to meet him a few dozen times. This, of course, was before he became known as "Sweetness" - as I grew older, I was unable to attend the games and Walter became more famous. Although, I was at the game against Minnesota where he rushed for 275 yds. What was he like?? He was the most selfless, humble person I ever met. Now, as a 8, 9, 10 yr-old kid, I was extremely intimidated by meeting any athlete, but, when I met him, after 10 minutes those anxiety and intimidation feelings were gone. I remember his presence being so soothing and therapeutic to an extent.....very welcoming!
What was the defining moment in your life that turned you into a sports fan?
I don't think there is a defining moment. Sports are in my genes. From age 3, as you can see from my picture, I was all about sports. I guess my dad and grandfather raised me that way? I am a true rarity when it comes to my experiences with sports. I remember starting and playing catch with my dad as early as age 4. My dad was huge into sports.....he coached football, played softball until age 56, and he used to be in a bowling league. My background is: Baseball - Been playing since age 4 (still play softball) - almost 40 yrs. Football, I played from ages 11-18. Hockey - recreational between the ages of 11 thru 25. Basketball, I played from age 12- 16.
As a fan, are there any memorable moments, attended games, or experiences that stand above the rest? Tell us about them.
My game event experience with sports is very memorable. My first baseball game, age 6, my grandfather took me to the Cubs game. I got to go onto the field and into the dugout and met Ernie Banks, Don Kessinger and Glen Beckert and then got a tour of the inside of the Wrigley Field scoreboard. He had connections with the Cubs ground crew through his working at Soldier Field and for the Chicago Park District. You already heard about my football experience with the Bears. My first Blackhawks game, I was 8 yrs old and had first row, 3 seats away from the Vancouver penalty box. Stan Makita scored a hat trick that night and his 3rd goal was his 500th career goal, which is a huge milestone in hockey. Although they lost 4-3 that night, I was hooked ever since.
Are you a superstitious fan? Care to tell us about some of your superstitions?
YES! If I'm watching one of my Chicago teams play and they are not playing well, I will turn to something else for a good 20-30 minutes. When I turn back, if they made a comeback and then start sucking again while I'm watching, I will turn the channel again as I think that they are doing better when I don't watch. Also, there are times that I will wear a specific team shirt and believe that is good luck (lol)
You spend a lot of time in the Locker Room. Besides the Thong of the Day, what are your favorite kinds of polls?
HAHAHA! Actually, Thong of the Day is not my favorite poll (no offense Mikey), I just usually have something witty to say and it comes easily. I really enjoy the Filter of the Day, Jess’s Daily polls (no a$$ kissing here) and any of the music polls. I especially love Leigh’s drunk polls, which have been less and less as of late (whassup with that?!?!?)
What’s your favorite poll that you, yourself, created?
I really enjoyed the Don’t Forget the Lyrics polls, the Shuffle This, and whatever polls that got me to learn more about our Q'ers.......Unfortunately, the Lyrics polls became hard to do after a while and the participation dropped off.
If you inherited FanIQ, besides a mobile app (which is something we’d all add), what changes would you make to make it perfect?
1 – Make some way to embed things in polls and on your profile wall & activity page. I would like to have my music on all three pages of my Profile (Wall, Bio, & Activity) as well as embedding Youtube or music in my posts.
2 – Have a public calendar to show peoples’ birthdays and anniversaries
3 – Increase question limit on polls to more than six
4 – Fix the comment menu bar (bold, underline, italics, smiley, post pic, post link, etc.) so it stops disappearing once you get to a certain point in your post window
Your bold prediction: What do you see your Bears doing this NFL season?
If healthy, I will boldly predict a 10-6 record with a 2nd round loss in the playoffs to Philly.
If you have anybody you'd like to see in the Spotlight, please send me a message.
