FanIQ | Sports Rumors, Gossip, Blogs, News & Discussion ForumsIt is official that the New York Giants and their head coach Rex Ryan have negotiated a new deal in which his tenure with the franchise has been extended for an unrevealed time. The news was made official on the Jets site. Ryan was all too happy to get more time with the Jets and get another season to prove his worth. Although his performance has been under question the players and fans always root for Ryan and support him as the right choice for the Jets franchise.

Ryan said that he was happy to hear the news that the extension had been made official. Ryan added that he was already planning for the 2014 season and preparation for it were already being done by the Jets franchise.

“I've said all along, I'm glad to be a Jet, I'm happy to be a Jet. That's never changed. I know what we all want and we're striving to get there. It's not about me,” the Jets website said in its news. “We're already into our off-season planning. There are a lot of areas where we can improve and we can't wait to get this thing rolling.”

The Jets did not make it to the postseason this year and fared with an 8-8 record. Still, the resigning of Ryan as the head coach for Jets had been said by many to be the right decision on behalf of the franchise. When the NFL 2013 Regular Season began there was little hope for the Jets franchise. Many had deemed them to failure and the others had predicted that at best it would only win a few of their games and play poorly. Their performance was predicted to be downright trash and coaching was under scrutiny as well.

Ryan did a fine job by digging the Jets out of the muck and actually helping them win more games than predicted and coaching them to give a better performance than they had been thought capable of. With a rookie quarterback and mid level team he managed a score of 8-8, which was quite an achievement with what he had to make do with what he had at hand.

Ryan had a good head for coaching and even if the Jets fired him from the head coach position he would have been fairly quickly signed to another coaching position. By resigning him to the Jets they can be assured that he will give a performance better than the previous season.
