"When reality looks ugly, just fantasize" - Jimmy Buffett
Not much going on in the real world so it's fantasy draft time! Many of you have probably already racked a half dozen teams before you've even seen a single preseason game, but I usually chose to wait until the very end.
With some downtime during the middle of the week before the full preseason schedule kicks up on Thursday, I figured we could use some fantasy discussion.
First Up: Predicting the Top 12 Quarterbacks for the upcoming season.
We're going by the standard scoring system used here. Here's my list:
1. Peyton Manning Can you go with anyone else, really?
2. Carson Palmer Houzhyourmamma ... championship ...
3. Vince Young Yep, believe it. Touchdown runs near the goal line will give him a boost.
4. Drew Brees Too many weapons at his disposal.
5. Tom Brady Still not sold on Randy's health, up to 3 if he's all good.
6. Tony Romo He'll be around 300 yds/game often.
7. Marc Bulger I suspect the Rams will continue to run more than they used to. Holt/Bruce getting older.
8. Donovan McNabb Big assumption he remains healthy.
9. Matt Hasselbeck Consistent every week.
10. Ben Roethlisberger Not the same QB you saw last year. I'll take on any bet that he'll be a top 10 fantasy QB.
11. Jay Cutler If I'm wrong it's because of him, way too good not to shoot up this list.
12. Alex Smith Nope, not kidding. "Sleeper" choice.
Let me hear your list and who you're grabbing in the late rounds. Can't go wrong with fantasy talk.
