Fantasy Football Week 10 Studs And Duds

Thomas Jones Was An Absolute Beast In Week 10. Of Course, It Helps That The Rams Still Completely Suck

11/11/08 in NFL   |   Pat   |   5232 respect

Since you all care about how I'm doing in my fantasy leagues, my overall record is 33-15-2, and I'm currently in 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd (all out of 10 teams) and 6th out of 12.

Some of the studs and duds this week are actually guys who personally won and lost me some games this week. Adrian Peterson AND Thomas Jones led me to a landslide 120-50 victory in my ESPN league. Jay Cutler, Anquan Boldin and Kellen Winslow led me to a dominant victory in another. On the negative side, my Chris Johnson-Brian Westbrook combo led me to an embarrassing loss in another league, and dropped me from 3rd to 6th.

For the studs, I try to choose guys who far exceed their expectations for that week. Duds are the guys who were drafted high in fantasy drafts, and are expected to give you solid points week in and week out, but didn't. All points listed are based on Yahoo public league scoring. Without further ado, here are your studs and duds for Week 10.

QB Tyler Thigpen, Chiefs, 24 fantasy points
For the second week in a row, Thigpen makes the Studs list. The Chiefs are still losing, but it looks like they may have stumbled upon a decent QB. Thigpen's 266 yards and 3 TD's against the Chargers were quite the pleasant surprise.
Honorable mentions: Kerry Collins, Titans (19 points), David Garrard, Jaguars (18)

WR Eddie Royal, Broncos, 22 fantasy points
Royal came up huge for the Broncos and fantasy owners everywhere, leading the NFL in Week 10 with 164 yards and a TD. The Broncos' 2nd round pick has been doing it all year, with the 12th most fantasy points among all WR's, and 1st among rookie wideouts.
Honorable mentions: Anquan Boldin, Cardinals (22), Reggie Wayne, Colts (17), Mark Bradley (who?), Chiefs (14)

RB Thomas Jones, Jets, 32 fantasy points
His 32 points this week were the best in the league. How'd he get it? 149 yards, and 3 touchdowns. There were only 9 other RB's who even put up more than half of what Jones did. The difference between him and someone like LaDainian Tomlinson (10 points) or Frank Gore (9) would have been more than enough to get most owners a win this week.
Honorable mention: Adrian Peterson, Vikings (28), Maurice Jones-Drew, Jaguars (27)

TE Tony Gonzalez, Chiefs, 23 fantasy points
Proving that he's still got it, future Hall of Fame TE Tony Gonzalez caught for 113 yards and 2 TD's. It still boggles my mind that the Chiefs lost that game, but that's a whole different story.
Honorable mention: Kellen Winslow, Browns (21), Todd Heap, Ravens (17)

K Jey Feely, Jets, 21 fantasy points
Feely was head and shoulders above all other kickers this week, since the Jets had a ridiculous day against the Rams. He was 5 for 5 on extra points, and hit 4 FG.

Jets Defense, Vs Rams, 25 fantasy points
Not surprisingly, the Jets had a great week against the Rams. Defensively, they allowed only 3 points, while racking up 2 sacks, snagging 2 interceptions and they recovered 3 fumbles, one which was returned 50 yards for a TD by Calvin Pace. You're not going to see many weeks better than this from a defensive unit.

QB Jake Delhomme, Panthers, 2 fantasy points
Dishonorable mentions: Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers (8), Aaron Rodgers, Packers (5)

RB Chris Johnson, Titans, 1 fantasy point
Dishonorable mention: Brian Westbrook, Eagles (5)

WR Steve Smith, Panthers, 0 fantasy points
Dishonorable mentions: Greg Jennings, Packers (3), Braylon Edwards, Browns (1)

TE Jeremy Shockey, Saints, 1 fantasy point
Dishonorable mention: Anthony Fasano, Dolphins (1)

K Rob Bironas, Titans, 3 fantasy points

Rams Defense, Vs Jets, -4 fantasy points
Dishonorable mentions: Lions (-3), 49ers (-1), Saints (-1), Texans (-1)

Those are your fantasy football studs and duds for week 10 in the NFL. If you have any guys that you think should or shouldn't have been on the list, comment here. And good luck next week!
