After two weeks of accurate projections, I had a bit of a spell last week. While starting Jenn Brown was a sure fire hit, I didn't exactly hit a home run with my sleeper selection of Jake Delhomme and Matt Cassel. But I think a lot of us missed terribly on Cassel. After all, it was a bizarre Sunday, one in which Kyle Orton and Brian Griese outperformed Tony Romo and Peyton Manning. God bless fantasy football and the unnecessary pain is causes us.
Alright, time to rebound and help you win your matchups this week:
QUARTERBACKS
If you're a Trent Edwards owner, you've likely been drooling all week for his start against St. Louis Sunday. While the Bills will remain a balanced offense, I think you can expect a good 250 yards and 3 TDs. Enjoy.
It's finally time to start Carson Palmer. He began connecting with T.J. Houshmandzadeh in the second half last week against a good Giants team, throwing for 286, 1 TD, and more importantly 0 INT. He's threw 7 TD's against the Browns last year, coupled with far too many interceptions, but I like Carson to surpass 300 yards for the first time all season.
Everyone's jumping off the Brett Favre bandwagon, but now's the time to pick him up at a low value. Turns out it takes a few weeks to get in sync with your offense, regardless of who you are. Favre's first 300 yard passing day is in store on Sunday.
Top 5: 1. Jay Cutler 2. Tony Romo 3. Drew Brees 4. Trent Edwards 5. Carson Palmer.
Stay Away (Not Bottom 5, but just disappoint): 1. Aaron Rodgers 2. Philip Rivers 3. Jason Campbell
RUNNING BACKS
We know they disappointed in the first two weeks, but the Jaguars running backs are back. We know you'll be starting Maurice Jones-Drew, but how about Fred Taylor? They'll both find the endzone against Houston.
Rashard Mendenhall gets the start on Monday Night Football and don't worry about his lack of production thus far. He'll deliver with 80+ yards and a score.
Steven Jackson finally delivers a top pick worthy performance.
Top 5: 1. Adrian Peterson 2. Fred Taylor 3. Marion Barber 4. Marshawn Lynch 5. Frank Gore
Stay Away: 1. Michael Turner 2. Chris Johnson 3. Steve Slaton
WIDE RECEIVERS
Alright, for the love, Lee Evans has to deliver this week. I'd start any and all Buffalo receivers while you're at it.
A little more obvious, but start T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Chad Johnson again.
If you're in a tough situation, don't be afraid of Antonio Bryant and Brandon Lloyd. You'll at least see a touchdown and a lot of passes in their directions. Time for Devery Henderson to step up as well with Patten down and out.
Top 5: 1. T.J. Houshmandzadeh 2. Brandon Marshall 3. Larry Fitzgerald 4. Jerrico Cotchery 5. Terrell Owens
Stay Away: 1. Greg Jennings 2. Roddy White 3. Chris Chambers
OK, we're going to stay away from tight ends, kickers and defenses unless we have any terribly strong convictions. Go with who you've got.
