Feeding Frenzy

2/20/14 in NBA   |   pigskinfan   |   53 respect

Blog Photo - Feeding FrenzyA potentially big day in The Association today.  It has nothing to do with the schedule.  It's trade deadline day, and there's lots of juicy rumors out there that have so far only resulted in a few relatively small deals.  I don't care who goes where, or if anybody goes anyplace.  All I'm concerned with is how will any moves that are made will impact what I can do to expand The Empire over the next couple of days and beyond.  Until that deadline hits later this afternoon though, we have games to deal with tonight in both the NBA and college hoops.  Let's get to work.

THE NBA  (5-6 ATS/6-5 SU/3-8 TOTALS last night and 9-11/11-9/9-11 so far for the week)

BUTTA  (1-0 last night and 2-0 so far for the week)
You should know the drill by now.  No regrets whatsoever about not going ahead with the play in Cleveland last night even though it would have won.  That's water under the bridge.  For tonight, there's just nothing there to get me interested enough to invest.

Nuggets 101 Heat (+3, O207) 107
BUCKS (+5 1/2, O205) 119 THUNDER 111
Rockets  98
WARRIORS (pk, U214) 104

---Can this be true?  The Bucks, a team that had only won 2 games since the calendar turned over to 2014 before Tuesday's night win over the Magic, are in line to win a 2nd straight game?  Yes, it's true, and that tells us all we need to know about the Nugs without Ty Lawson.
---You'll notice that I'm going against what my numbers say for the Heat/THUNDER showdown tonight in OkC.  I think The Champs have had this game circled since the Thunder embarrassed them at home about 3 weeks ago.  And it may sound odd to you, but I think that Westbrook being back tonight for Okie C, if the reports are true, might even enhance the Heat's chance of pulling the "upset".  Possibly more on that in tomorrow's opening.

COLLEGE HOOPS  (10-12 ATS/12-9 SU/10-12 TOTALS last night and 23-27/29-19/22-28 so far for the week)

BUTTA  (no play last night and 1-0 so far for the week)
1.  Toledo (-3 1/2, O142) over BOWLING GREEN - Toledo is in bounce back mode after getting drilled on Saturday by E. Michigan.  The Rockets are the class of the MAC, and even though they're on the road, there will be plenty of focus on getting back on track tonight.  Toledo 83, BOWLING GREEN 72
2.  Utep (-260) over TULANE - There is a huge logjam at the top of the C-USA standings, and UTEP is right in the thick of things.  The Miners are a very good team, and they play well on the road too.  But with a matchup against So. Miss, another team coveting the top spot in the conference, coming up on Saturday, I can see Tulane possibly being a tough enough out to make (-5 1/2) on the Miners look a little too many.
