Anyone noticing what's going to be an annoying trend for the next several months. Players admitting to HGH and then trying to come off as the good guy because "they were just trying to get healthy" and better yet asking for our sympathy because "they felt bad about doing it."
Fernando Vina spoke with Bob Ley last night and admitted to the HGH claim in the Mitchell report, but denied any use of steroids which was also a claim of the investigation.
"I tried everything rehabbing," he said. "I came to a point that I was desperate..." Vina said he tried HGH to heal himself, not to build bulk. "For me, it was to try to get back on the field," he said. "That was the bottom line."I was also amused the Vina knew exactly what some of his past checks were written for while some more recent seemed to escape his memory. Vina may very well be telling the absolute truth, but I'm skeptical the agents of various members of the Mitchell report have gotten together and figured out the best possible damage control plan -- Admit HGH use for injury only, feel bad about it, say he was no big deal, move on.
