Florida vs. Virginia [Game info and open thread]
The Gators (23-10) are a high-scoring, dangerous team. Billy Donovan's squad can put up points in a hurry--thanks in large part to their three-point shooting. Florida attempted more than 25 threes a game this year, and made 39.0 percent of them. Leading the three-point birage is junior guard Kenny Boynton, who averaged 16.3 points a game and shot 42.7 percent from long range this year. You know Donovan, who has won two National Championships, knows how to coach come tournament time--so this is a dangerous team, despite the fact that they enter the tournament having lost four of their last five games.
The Cavaliers (22-9), like the Gators, sort of backed into the NCAA Tournament. They have lost three of four and five of their last eight games. An early-season 12-game winning streak, which included a win over Michigan, was enough to get Virginia off the bubble, however. The Cavaliers don't do anything particularly well--you might say they are more of a defensive-minded team. Their leading scorer and rebounder is senior forward Mike Scott, who averages 18.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.
