Today, the AFL denied Richmond's request to put injured defender Graham Polak on the Rookie List for Season 2009. As a result, the Tigers will only get 1 pick in Tomorrows Pre-Season draft. If Polak had been placed on the rookie list, Richmond would have had an extra pick, which would most likely have been used on Cousins.
The only time this sort of approval has been accepted was when Essendon midfielder Adam Ramanaskus was recovering from his 2nd bout of cancer in 2006.
As such, the Tigers will most likely use their only pick on an up-and-coming player - preferably from the Under 18 TAC Cup competition. The Tigers still were told by League CEO Andrew Demetriou to place Polak on the Long-Term injury list - which prevents him from playing for a minimum 8 weeks, although he most likely will not play at all next year - and promote a Rookie onto the Senior List.
