Destrehan (LA) athlete Rickey Jefferson of Destrehan High School became LSU's 20th commitment for the recruiting class of 2013 Sunday afternoon, reports Jim Kleinpeter of The Times Picayune.Blog Photo - LSU Football Recruiting: Jordan Jefferson's Brother Commits to Tigers

Brother of the Tigers' latest starting quarterback Jordan, Rickey decided to follow in his older sibling's collegiate footsteps and pledged early to coach Les Miles.

"I felt like it was the right time," said Jefferson. "I prayed about it and I knew I wanted to be a Tiger.

"It was pretty much LSU all along," he continued. "It's where I feel most comfortable. I really don't pay attention to the negative things. I stay positive and play football. I play for my team and play for the coaches that coach me. I don't play for anybody else."

Jefferson plays both ways for his high school team as an impact wide receiver and cornerback, while contributing as a kick returner. He will likely serve as a DB on LSU's depth chart, having not allowed a touchdown in two seasons as a starter.

The 6'0", 180-pound prospect is rated as a 4-star recruit by Scout and is listed as the No. 5 overall player in the state of Louisiana for his class by Rivals.

Jefferson also held offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida State, Houston, Kentucky, Michigan State, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Purdue, Southern Miss, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC and Vanderbilt.
