Outside of next Thursday and Friday, this is the best basketball day of the year. Didn't I say that yesterday? Oh well, probably say it again tomorrow. After just about every bubble team tripped over their feet, and a referee's whistle in one instance, there are many bids to be had for those playing today. Teams like Arkansas and Ohio State are probably in, but they can punch their ticket and sleep easy on Sunday.
Best games:
Ohio State vs Michigan State (2:30, ESPN) Buckeyes beat the Spartans one week ago, and could to win again. For the Spartans, it's time to see which version shows up today. The one that easily beat Texas or the one that lost to Iowa and Penn State. If the former shows up, they're plenty talented to win the BTT. OK, maybe you're not interested, but I am.
West Virginia vs Georgetown (7, ESPN) Joe Alexander and Bill Raftery will kick off your weekend right. Mountaineers are playing well, but I still like the Hoyas here.
USC vs UCLA (9, FSN) What will the Pac-10 officials try tonight? I'm liking the Trojans. OJ Mayo has found his shooting touch and that should continue.
Texas A&M vs Kansas State (9:30) Both teams are technically on the bubble, but with yesterday's debacle of all others in their company losing makes even the loser of this game comfortable. That said, the Wildcats could ill afford yet another loss to end the season. Looking forward to see how Michael Beasley elevates his play now that he's in one and NBA territory. 30 and 15 is to be expected tonight.
Time to warm up for St. Paddy's Day with many pints of college hoops.
