Friday Night Thread: Colt Brennan Plans on Waking Up in Reno
READ MORE:

Last time we saw Colt Brennan he was being decapitated by a Fresno State linebacker. Presumably he'll wake up by tonight's late kickoff in Reno. Still a chance for the Warriors to play their way into a BCS bowl bit, but Nevada begins the first of a difficult three game stretch. Well, difficult in relation to what the Hawaii schedule has to offer.

Memphis and UConn tip it off in the Garden at 8:30 along with numerous NBA games. If you're watching something, feel free to Q it up here.

Looks like Hawaii fans will have their excuse should they lose. I was going to be surprised if Brennan was able to survive this hit and play just 6 days later. I credit him for trying.

I have never seen a school that shows their professors in their in-game ad. Kudos, Nevada.

I actually thought about going to Nevada. It is a pretty good school, plus it is right there in the middle of the mountains and is gorgeous.

This halftime must be pre-taped. There's no way in hell that Lou Holtz is still awake right now.

I don't know, he stays up pretty late on Saturday's to give away helmet stickers and talk incoherently about something that happened during the day.

Kevin Durant might just turn out OK.

Yeah, just saw that he hit the GW shot.

Sometimes on Friday nights on Sportscenter when him and Mark May pick games. Kobe is fired up right now. He is playing this game like it is a Finals game or something. He is diving all over the floor and passing it around.

Sportscenter just now waited all of 8 minutes to talk about Bonds. Impressive. Also good to see Pedro Gomez has a job again.

Nevada with an 18 play, 90 yard drive that took 8:20. They're looking good in this one.

Hey Jon ... let's go ahead and post the one you have up there. Nice work ;)

Thanks, it's posted.

Another 8+ minute touchdown drive for Nevada would be great right now.

Or they can score in less than a minute, that's cool too.

Nice timing with that comment.

Colt has abandoned his giant coat/cape/robe ... wonder if he will be coming in?

So long as Graunke is a capable QB he's fine in the Hawaii system. 30-40+ QB's could put up the same numbers as Brennan in that offense.

I love how the Hawaii guys are cold ... what is it, like 55 there?

Yeah, that's what they said earlier.

Nobody should need a coat like that at that temperature, even if they do live in Hawaii. Arizona is hotter (maybe not at night), and I'd be just fine.

Ha, check out the old dude with the Brian Bosworth hair.

Yeah, it's been close to that here lately - something like 25 straight days of above-normal temperatures, including a bunch of records. Nobody cares though, since it's not the middle of the summer, but it's pretty annoying. It doesn't feel like Thanksgiving at all.

I'm already heading to the East Coast for Thanksgiving, so I'm sure I'll freeze there.

p.s. this game is in Nevada. Not Hawaii.

He's a good QB, he's just not any better than most decent QB's in college football. People who solely look at stats without the context of the sytem get all googily eyed. For example, throw Ball State's QB in the Hawaii system he'd be throwing up the same numbers.

Hawaii is just lucky that their backup isn't Brady Leaf.

Why isn't Nevada calling a timeout?

45 yarder is....

Ha! The double ice! Now there's something new.

11/17/07

good...and then the Shanahan rule strikes again!

11/17/07

And he makes it again. very nice to see

I have no problem with trying the double ice, but letting the clock run down so far gives Nevada no chance now.

I know the coats have been bad; but did anyone else notice one Hawaii player with a full ski mask on too??

11/17/07

Well, at least the guy got smacked for making the game-ending INT.

Better off that way, I guess. Would have been annoying to listen to the excuses about Brennan out.

When does the Graunke for Heisman campaign start? I mean, he put up good numbers.

W at home vs. Boise St. = BCS bowl?

Hey now. When I first moved to Nevada, I would get cold when it was mid 60's. Hell I still get cold when it is the low 70's like this past week.

Ugh; why does everything in this season have to be so confusing. The last few weeks; there is no possible way of telling just one team in the Championship game...and you have no clue on who exactly will pull out and win the Heisman race...

If it ends up still being this confusing in a couple weeks; what does everyone else think about just placing a few Heisman candidate names in one hat; and the top 6 or so teams in another...and draw...

I find it hilarious every day down here in Atlanta now. I guess its freezing cold for these guys; at 30 degrees. I spent a good 10+ years in Minnesota; and always seem to get the weird looks for wearing shorts outside when others are in their winter coats...really amusing .

Thank you. Went for a run today with a long sleeve shirt and shorts. 40 degrees. And yes that makes me awesome ;)

But come on ... parkas when it's barely below 60? That's just weak for a football team. Good luck in Boise.

Unfortunately, that game is in Hawaii this year, isn't it?
