From the Armchair: Arizona Cardinals, Week 13
Palmer threw for over 300 yards with 3 touchdown passes, but also had 2 interceptions and a lost fumble. Palmer and the offensive unit had a chance to take the lead with only 2 minutes left, but Palmer could not complete a critical pass to Michael Floyd on 4th down. Palmer was also sacked 5 times. Fitzgerald and Floyd each had a touchdown and 5 receptions, with Floyd being one yard shy of a 100 yard game. Andre Ellington was out of the game due to an injury, causing a major hole in Arizona’s rushing game.
Former Arizona Wildcat Nick Foles managed 21 completions of 34 attempts along with 3 touchdowns and no counted interceptions against Arizona’s number 8th ranked defense. All 3 of Philly’s touchdowns were by tight ends, including 2 by Zach Ertz. Philadelphia also had a critical field goal that gave them the win, which ties them with Dallas for the NFC East division.
After this loss, which was a much needed win to remain in the playoff hunt, the Cardinals will have to work on their defensive plays while avoiding penalty calls and Palmer is still showing weakness when under pressure and the offensive line needs to strengthen their blocking and protection. The Cards will return home to Arizona next week to take on their division rival: the St. Louis Rams.
