FINAL SCORE: CHICAGO 31 , MINNESOTA 30

Players of the Game - Jay Cutler
 (290 YDS, 3 TD, 2 INT) & Devin Hester ( 5 Returns - 249 yds)

I met up with "Holla @ your boy", JSWOL for this game.  We went to a local neighborhood bar....Prices of alchy were CHEEEEEEEEEAP!   Free Sloppy Joe's at Halftime as well!  SCORE!

Raining hard in Chicago all day.  The field will be even more of a mess than usual and this should make for a sloppy game.

This game started off quickly. If you weren't in your seats at kickoff, you missed something. The Bears kicked off and rookie Corderelle Patterson (Min) took it 105 yds to the house. Before I had a beer in my hand, the BEARS were down 7-0.  On the following kickoff from MINNY, Devin Hester took it 76 yds to the MINNY 32 yd line. We almost saw back-to-back kickoffs to start the game. 5 plays later, Cutler hooked with with TE M.BENNETT to tie the game at 7-7.

After a bunch of nothing, the BEARS capped off the 1st QTR with a 3 play, 86 yd drive with a CUTLER to MARSHALL 34YD TD The drive saw CUTLER hook up with M.BENNETT on a 14 yd pass and CUTLER to JEFFREY on a 38 yd pass before the 34yd'er to MARSHALL for the score.

In the 2nd QTR, J.ALLEN was able to get to CUTLER and forced a fumble in which MNNY took back 61 yds for the score. 14-14 tie and MINNY's offense hadn't done sh** at this point.

After the BEARS got the ball back, their drive stalled and punted back to MINNY. They were facing a 3rd and 2 at their own 28 yd line. PONDER went back to throw and connected with T.JENNINGS of the BEARS who took it back 28 yds for the INT-TD!  BEARS Defense scores again!  21-14.  But, on the ensuing kickoff, MINNY's offense finally woke up and PONDER connected with TE K.RUDOLPH on a 20 yd TD pass to tie the score at 21-21.

The BEARS got the ball back with 1:11 left in the half . CUTLER drove them down the field and set up R.GOULD for a 20yd FG to end the half.  24-21 BEARS!

The 3rd QTR was pretty boring. MINNY did get a FG to tie it at 24-24 to go into the 4th Qtr.

4th QTR started with CHICAGO having possession and driving.  CUTLER tried to hook up with MARSHALL on a deep pass, which would have resulted in a TD but MINNY DB T.SMITH came across and intercepted that sure TD pass at the MINN 12 yd line.  MINNY then drove down the field and kick a FG to take a 27-24 lead.

After a M.FORTE fumble at midfield, MINNY drove down for another FG to make it 30-24 with 3:15 left in the game. CUTLER would not give up.  He looked good all day. Besides the 1 INT mentioned above, he had another one in the 1st half that was a result of a batted ball that then hit off of a BEARS player and ended in the arms of a MINNY player. His throws were pretty accurate all game and he looked good.  So, the BEARS have it 1st and 10 at their own 34 with 3:15 left. CUTLER would hook up with FORTE for 6 yds. Then he hooks up with MARSHALL for 12 yds and that brings us to the 2 minute warning. From the time out, CUTLER hits JEFFREY for 11 yds and MARSHALL for 10 yds to the MINNY 28.  We then have an offensive holding penalty which pushes the BEARS back to the MINNY 38 with :49 seconds left.
CUTLER would then connect with M.BENNET for 23 yds to the MINNY 19. After a spike to stop the clock and an incomplete pass, the BEARS would be looking at 3rd and 10 with 21 seconds left in the game.  On the next play, CUTLER throws to the far side line, M.BENNETT would turn his entire body around, make the catch at the 1.5 yd line and lunge in for the GAME WINNING TD!    BEARS WIN!  BEARS WIN!  31-30.

Most of us, knowledgable, Bears fans have been stating that if you give Cutty time to throw, he'll be good.  His stats show him having 1 sack after 2 games, but, I'm not sure how that sack was considered a sack since all J.Allen did was knock the ball out of his hand while going after him?

So, YES! YES! YES!,  the offseason pickups of Bushrod and Slauson have really helped and the 2 rooks (Long & Mills) have done well on the pass protection. Unfortunately, the run blocking needs some improvement.   frown

The next several weeks doesn't get any easier for Jay Cutler as he plays against the likes of Big Ben, RG3, Matt Stafford, Eli and Drew Brees...
