From the Arm Chair: Green Bay Packers Week 2
We did learn a few things though. The Packers are still a top 5 team in football and are definitely a contender. This offense looks as potent as ever and if Starks/Lacy/Franklin can run the ball well its over for opposing defenses. Aaron Rodgers was spot on as usual and its become clear, though I don't think there was much doubt, that the Packers do not need Greg Jennings in any fashion whatsoever. (No, no I am not bitter about him being a d*ck this offseason. Why do you ask?) The Packers defense looked good, but RGIII is clearly not himself right now which makes the Washington offense pretty horrible.
Washington, on the other hand, is done for this year. 0-2 isn't a death knell in the always mediocre NFC East, but if RGIII can't dominate games, the team is in trouble. Their secondary is absolutely awful in what is looking to be the most pass heavy season in NFL history. If you can't make stops (without the other team making boneheaded pylon dives) you're going to be in trouble and that's where the Washington football team stands.
The Packers move on to Cincinnati next week, which could be a good test for the running game again. The 49ers running defense wasn't going to give up yards to us, and the Redskins had no chance so it will be good to see what the running game can do against a solid defense. Both teams could be 1-1 (Bengals play tonight and may be 0-2) so they game will be key to both team's seasons. The Packers can't afford to drop two games behind the Bears this early making it an almost must win.
