From the Armchair: Pittsburgh Steelers, Week 2

Blog Photo - From the Armchair: Pittsburgh Steelers, Week 2I'm here, I'm here, finally!

Lets kick this thing off. Pittsburgh Steelers, 0-2, week 2. For those of you who aren't ready for the realization of the Steelers and the 2013/2014 season you may want to skip this. After an off-season of letting free agents walk (good riddance), releasing under preforming / over aged players, which was needed, this start is to be somewhat expected.

This year is going to be ups and downs, mostly downs. The team is going through a rebuilding processes, which I'm good with, it's time. Tomlin was given Cowher's gem and now has to build his own. Don't get me wrong, Tomlin is the coach for the Steelers, he's in a new position and has to work through it.

Offense: once again has line issues, both health and performance related. DeCastro not progressing as expected, Pouncey with a season ending injury and Adams recovering from an off-season stabbing wound.  This is to blame mostly for the running game lack of yards. This group of backs is the worst I've seen in years (less that 100 yards in two weeks, really?) The brightest hope,  Le'Veon Bells, isn't proven.  It's hard for me to blame the line for all of Ben's sacks; he tries things that aren't there, which rest on his shoulders. Steelersreceiving corps has no true number 1, but between Brown and some work rookie Markus Wheaton, someone will fill these shoes.

Blog Photo - From the Armchair: Pittsburgh Steelers, Week 2Defense: I'm not sure where to even start with this group. From too old to rookies still learning the Dick LeBeau defense. I know this is going to upset a few, but it's time to part ways with Troy. Troy is either terrible good, or just terrible. Troy's Tasmanian Devil style play gives you awesome head turning plays, or face palms when the over runs the timing. Ike, he's lost a step along the way, and rightfully so at 33. This defense needs consistency and youth. Jarvis Jones has potential to be the rule abiding version of Harrison.

There wasn't enough highlight, and too many low lights of this game for me to go in to detail. Much like last week the Steelers under performed, they may not be the Steelers of the past 6 years, but are much better than to date. Figure it out!! Oh and please stop with the 7 talk? Steelers currently have the same odds the Jaguars do making the playoffs.

Thanks! Jot out.

I am not. Tomlin is not losing that many games...I just checked the schedule and decided that they shall beat The Vikings, Jets, Raiders, Bills, Lions, Dolphins, Ravens, and Browns. See, my math is perfect! They will be ugly but still.

I agree. Give a team time to build. It takes a few years. 0-2 is not a death sentence like the 'experts' say. Go Steelers!
