From the Armchair: Oakland Raiders Week 1

Okay so here it goes, first off let me answer a couple of questions that I am sure some people have:
  1. Did we win?                              Answer:No
  2. Are we happy about this?       Answer:No
  3. Did we see anything we liked?   Answer:Yes
Here’s the thing, there are a few things that were great about this game. As always, as Raider fans know, with the great things that happen there are always going to be not so great things. What I saw was Terrelle Pryor making things happen. He brings life to what some consider a lifeless team. He literally wore out the Indy Defense, not that they have the best defense, but still. He rushed for 112 yards and threw 19/29 for 271 yards, but he was intercepted twice. Overall, for his 2nd career start I think he did great.

Someone else that caught my eye was Rod Streater. He played a great game, caught a few passes when they were needed. I like him and hope to see him improve as the season goes on.

Let’s face it with the injuries this team has, I have to say the Defense did great against Andrew Luck and the Indy offense. Luck was sacked 4 times for 31 yards. It was good to see the Raider D show some life. I think that Pryor kept the ball long enough to give the defense rest, something they are not used to having.

Overall, I am happy with the way the Raiders played, I hope they continue playing better than people give them credit for.We are always looking for the win, and I am sure it's coming soon. Up next week we play the Jaguars at home. Go Raider Nation!

I thought they did well considering the past.... :| I was even a little proud of them. I don't know if they are playoff bound or anything, but they will be better and possibly more fun to watch. Healthy Streater is going to be alright. Go Raiders!... most of the time :)

I still don't think they can win long term and enough games in a season with Pryor at QB to count. It's not that he isn't talented its that his talent is mostly in his feet and not in his head or arm which holds him back from being a really solid QB. When he meets teams that are really solid in their front 7 on defense and he can't "run wild" i don't see him having the other skills needed to win in that position. Plus its not all going to be all his fault as the team has many other holes to fill.

But i guess ya never can tell and maybe he busts out somehow still .... either way the raiders may just win a few this year.

The Silver and Black will be back sooner than most critics know it...  With the commodities the Raiders have on offense and defense, these so-called analyst won't know what will hit 'em in the next couple of season...

I think the Raiders will be an improved team, and you will see some great things. I just don't know if anyone can keep up the Broncos in the AFC West. Shush, Stoney.

Good job on the article, Kat.

Thanks Beans. I think that they may surprise some people this season.

I wasn't too surprised to see them play a little better than everyone expected them to play. I only saw highlights, but Pryor looks pretty good, despite the INTs

I agree...
