From the Armchair: San Francisco 49ers: Week 13

12/6/13 in NFL   |   Michael_G   |   37534 respect

Beast   There really isn't a whole lot to post here other than the San Francisco 49ers are playing their best football of the season at the right time. They took the St. Louis Rams to the woodshed in what was not a close game as they dominated early on building a lead of 23-6 until the Rams scored with 18 seconds to go in the game to make it look closer than it was with a 23-13 final.

The 49ers offense is now healthy in the receivers corp with the return of Michael Crabtree. Combined with Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis this team is now ready to rumble. This brings up this weekends game with the Seattle Seahawks coming to town. The Seahawks trounced the 49ers 29-3 in Seattle in week 2 and that has not been forgotten as the 49ers seek to avenge that defeat. The Seattle team is NOT liked in San Francisco and they don't get to bring their 12th man/woman. They will be facing a 12th man in the fans at Candlestick Park, although not built for acoustics to boom and bounce all over the stadium causing people to think they are really that loud when it's the architecture of the stadium that causes this. Russell Wilson still won't be able to hear himself think, plus we've had bigger earthquakes here bitches.

A little trash-talk never hurt anybody, as long as it doesn't get way personal where feelings are hurt, I certainly don't take it seriously but I do get excited when there is redemption in a big rivalry my teams are involved with.

I know it never hurt anybody but I don't do it, for a few reasons. One of which is that I don't want to put myself in the position to eat crow. I've never been a trash talker. I root for my team, and I'm too much of a realist to be arrogant about them winning every week (especially against good teams.) I also am happy when my team wins, but I don't like to gloat; mainly because I have so many friends who are fans of different teams, and I like to be a good sport - win or lose.

The only place there's a 12th "Woman" is for a team in an 11-man women's league. (Sorry - I hate when girls call themselves a 12th Woman...the people on the field are men.)

Yes Jess, but the fans in the stands are both men and women....and that's what the 12th player is all about
(Edited by Jess)

I realize that, but drop the "th" and yes, you can say woman...a 12 woman is different than a 12TH woman. There are 11 MEN...not 11 women. The "th" signifies how many of something there are...Pet peeve. (Also...I'm pretty much aware that the people in the stands are both men and women...unless someone forgot to tell me something about myself.)

I also hate it when people, including the organization or Nike, say the 12th FAN. We're not the 12th Fan. Maybe if there is a group of fans hanging out and someone counted them, there would be a 12th one.
