From the Armchair: San Francisco 49ers, Week 5

niners Tremaine Brock intercepted Matt Schaub's first pass of the night and returned it for a pick 6. The 49ers never looked back.

The 49er defense was on it's 'A' game allowing the Houston offense only 313 total yards in a 34-3 thrashing on Sunday night in San Francisco. The game was never in doubt as the 49ers played a mistake free game and forced 4 Houston turnovers, they controlled the time of possession and had only 3 penalties which had been a problem the first 4 games of the season. The game never reached a great level of excitement as it was over almost as soon as it began.

The main concern for the folks here in San Francisco is the recent play of Colin Kaepernick as he was only 6-15 for 113 yards, 64 of those coming on a TD pass to Vernon Davis. He hasn't shown the explosiveness he brought last season and seems to be a bit out of synch. The 49ers schedule eases up a little with Arizona coming to town and a trip to London to play Jacksonville at the end of the month. Here's hoping Colin finds his groove before Seattle comes to town.

The 49ers have gone back to a power running game much like they did with Alex Smith. Kaepernick is throwing fewer passes and not running as much (to avoid injury is my guess). Also, when we lost Crabtree before the season started it changed the offensive mindset. We only have 2 receivers with more than 9 receptions. (Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis). When we get that 3rd big play receiver back expect the team to mix it up more in the passing game.

ahhh, ok thank you

Yes. I can understand exhibition games, but during the regular season it just seems like unnecessary hardship on the teams playing. Plus, does it take a homegame out of the schedule for one of those teams? I'd be TICKED as a season ticket holder, if the Hawks play over there and only get 7 games at home.

The good news in this case for us is that it's a Jacksonville home game so we (49er fans) still have our 8 games. Poor Jacksonville, gotta be the NFL doormat this year frown

How many NFL games are scheduled in London this year? Wasn't there already one?

A defense on the rise kicked the crap out of an offense on the decline....(my article, my viewpoint)...If you'd like you could write an article about how pathetic the Texans are cheeky

Indeed, but you said the Niners, not the niners d, played a mistake free game, and that was not what I saw, dammit. ( Man, can't tell a clown nothing these days...) And shut your face! Poor Texans.

Congrats. A win is a win...and idk know nothing bout it this year.
