From the Armchair: Seattle Seahawks, Week 3

Since I was at the game, I'm a couple of days late posting this, and so much has happened since Sunday, clear analysis will likely be lacking and memories of the game will be vague. This is my disclaimer.

Blog Photo - From the Armchair: Seattle Seahawks, Week 3People expected the Seahawks to stomp the Jags, which they did. Most people expected them to cover the spread easily (I, however, was a little less confident). They did...and then some. You won't see a ton about the Seahawks on NFL Network or ESPN this week, because they did what they were expected to do: they beat a bad team at CLink.

It was good to see the Seahawks use this as an opportunity to get their aerial attack back on track. Russell Wilson passed for 4 touchdowns and Tarvaris Jackson had 2. Wait...T-Jack what? Yes, after the third quarter - or maybe it was somewhere in the middle, I really don't remember - the Seahawks pulled both their starting offense and defense and let the 2's and 3's take some reps. (Those of you wondering how the Jags came back and scored 17 points on the Hawks know now.) Sidney Rice and Zach Miller both had a great game and did you see that Doug Baldwin TD reception?! They're going to need both aspects of that offense to take on the Texans this week on the road.

The defense looked as stout as ever, though I'm not really sure how impressive that is against Chad Henne. There were a couple of deep pass completions allowed due to blown coverage later in the game, but for most of the first half, the Jags were totaling negative yards.

Blog Photo - From the Armchair: Seattle Seahawks, Week 3Notes from location:
- I expected the 12th Man to be a lot quieter than they were against the Niners. They were a little, but not a lot. I lost my voice again halfway through the game, so I'm betting that happened to many of my fellow fans as well.
- The weather was bipolar.
- Why do they run out of nacho cheese at halftime EVERY game?
- I need a playlist of everything the house DJ plays during warmups.
- Last week the kiddo made a sign for Marshawn Lynch in Touchdown City before the game. This week she made one for Russell Wilson. Obviously she's got some sort of mojo. We play the Titans October 13 - who should she make a sign for?

Until next time!

Oops I forgot to mention in my article - the night before the game, I was joking around with Trever and I said, "ya know, after this season I should get a Giacomini jersey! He's Italian, I'm Italian, he made a funny joke on the "Get to Know Your Teammate" thing the guys do for a local news station the other day." And my husband just gave me a look with a raised eyebrow - he knew what I was doing. He said "you're lucky the curse is worse the more you actually like the player."

I want to make something clear: I was honestly teasing.

But, something only has to happen so many times before you start to believe in it. *sigh* Obviously I can't even joke. Now our already shoddy o-line could be even thinner this week

I hope Wilson used this opportunity to work on his quick decision making/field vision. Some games, it looks like that hasn't improved from last season, and it really needs to. He's still scaring me when he has that ball for more than 2s. lol

I was impressed by the way he stepped up in the pocket this game when it was closing in - he did a MUCH better job, and that had nothing to do with how crappy the Jags are. He looked like he actually remembered he does well when he runs.

You're right - this season he hasn't seemed even as quick in his decision making as last year, much less any quicker. I think that I'm going to just have to get used to him freaking me out having the ball for more than 2s though until that o-line tightens up. That's a big problem right now.

I think running out of nacho stuff at halftime is a good thing. I bet it takes 2 or 3 Jags home games for them to run out of cheese. Seattle is looking good. How about making a sign for the whole defensive team this week?
