Business as usual on trade deadline day [Live Sports Thread]

7/31/13 in MLB   |   Jess   |   34885 respect

Happy MLB Trade Deadline Day, sports fans! What's your team doing? Any surprising moves? Keep up to date in our live thread.

Let's start with a little recap of yesterday's Best of the Web! When was the last time you saw a baserunner steal home?....the Red Sox sell high, acquire Jake Peavy.... Remember Brian Wilson? He went south and signed with the Dodgers....AD may have been short on breaking Erik Dickerson's single-season rushing record but now he has a loftier goal in mind - will we see him break Emmitt Smith's all-time record of 18,355 in 2017?....Percy Harvin opts for surgery on his partially torn hip labrum, and will miss most of the season. Is this just another victim of the Hutch curse?

Let's take a look at today's sports schedule (all times eastern)...

I was at the Bucs/Cards game and Wainwright and Locke both struggled in this game.  The Bucs won 5-4 off a go-ahead single by Russell Martin in the bottom of the 8th.  That ballpark went absolutely ballistic!  When the Bucs came out for the top of the 9th they got a standing ovation.  I have never seen such an atmosphere at PNC Park, it was freaking awesome!

well... a player possibly getting a life time ban is not exactly business as usual.. but they did play some games...

In fairness, all I'm seeing is that the MLB is "prepared" to ban him for life...still nothing concrete to report as of yet (that I can find)...and that's been covered plenty. "Business as usual" was a title chosen because nothing HUGE really went down, and the boys of summer continue with their daily games...business as usual (it's not easy to come up with a title for the same type of article every single day.)
