You know, I feel bad for Ohio State on some level. Every year they get waxed by an SEC team in the championship game, making them prime blogging fodder. Naturally they've been picked yet again this year to meet up with an SEC team in the championship game, which they'll of course lose. Now, as much as I hate kicking someone while they're down (just kidding, I love it), I have to pass this story along.Ohio State has a highly touted defensive tackle recruit named Garrett Goebel coming in this year who is, um, excitable. How excitable? Well, let's give YOU A TASTE OF HIS INTERVIEW!!!!!!! that he did with Buckeye Planet one year ago before his senior season in high school began:
BPRT: This is your senior year...what goals have you set personally and for your team?As Fanhouse points out, when you Google search "ultimate sacrifice" the first four things that pop up are the crucifixion of Jesus, castrato castration, Indian woman climbing on top of husband's funeral pyre, and memorial to deceased American soldiers.
GG: I plan on winning Conference, winning all playoff games, and becoming the Illinois Class 5A Champions!!! Also, developing leadership skills while convincing my teammates that they can perform at a higher level and accomplish team/personal goals IF THEY ARE WILLING TO MAKE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE!!!
Don't worry though, the interview only gets better.
BPRT: When your career is over, how would you like people to remember Garrett Goebel?Yes, I want to GIVE it my all. And capitalize RANDOM words whenever I feel LIKE it.
GG: I want to be remembered as a leader, someone who gave 100% of his ENERGY every practice, workout and GAME while believing in accomplishing goals that others discounted. Dedicated, yet sincere, honest and humble while giving thanks to GOD to have this opportunity.
All right maybe I'm being a little hard on Garrett, I mean he's just a dedicated kid who likes football. It's not like he's crazy or anything....
BPRT: If you were analyzing yourself on film, what would you list as your strengths and what needs some work?Uh, so his weakness is he doesn't rip his opponents' heads off? I think he meant to phrase that differently, but still, yikes. By the way, if I'm playing Ohio State any time this next season, I specifically ask that this kid gets drug tested before the game. Like four times.
GG: Strengths: Quickness off the ball, strength, aggressiveness, always giving 100% effort until whistle blows.
Weaknesses: Making a play instead of trying to rip my opponents head off. Discipline and technique.
Garrett GOEBEL Is an EXCITABLE YOUNG MAN BOOM [Fanhouse]
