Another week, another victory; it doesn’t get much simpler than that for the New England Patriots’ head coach, Bill Belichick. The legendary coach admits that in spite of setbacks his men have been in excellent form this season, particularly the crown jewel of the lot, quarterback Tom Brady.
Brady, who has rightfully become a household name for the Patriots; is in immaculate form despite recording the most interceptions in a single match in his career this season. Belichick confesses the defensive woes of Patriots but hails Brady for covering up the team’s weaknesses with his abilities.
The Patriots first and only loss of the season came at the hands of the Buffalo Bills in Week 3. Brady and Co. put posted 31 points on the board but the Bills sneaked pass them with 34 points. After their victory against the Dallas Cowboys (20-16), the Patriots headed for their bye. Therefore, the Patriots are well rested and prepared for their match against last year’s AFC champions, Pittsburg Steelers.
Belichick told media in his press conference that the Patriots were geared up for the match. Belichick said, “Back at it here. We have the players coming back in tomorrow. Today's a good day for us to go back over all the things we worked on last week, pull it back together, get ready for the players coming in tomorrow and practicing, have a good week for the Steelers. They look good as usual - the AFC champion last year - a lot of the same players, same schemes. [It's a] big challenge, a lot to get ready for. They do a lot of things to make it tough on you. They're well coached, [they have] a lot of talent in all three phases of the game. Both teams know each other well, so I don't think there will be a ton of surprises here. It will come down to preparation, execution and decision making on game day. Hopefully we can do a good job of that.”
Belichick also informed that the Patriots started preparation for the match as soon as the encounter with the Cowboys ended. Belichick stated, “We started working on them as soon as we got finished with Dallas. There were definitely things that we needed to just do for us too, but we started working on them right away.” Belichick was particularly impressed by the defense the Patriots put up against the Cowboys. The 59-year-old coach, Belichick told media that he had the Patriots’ defensive lines running extra miles, and he was glad to notice impressive improvement.
