Recapping college hoops almost daily throughout the year ...George Mason 87, #20 Kansas State 77
Another 30 points for Michael Beasley, but the rest of his Wildcats went 19-44 from the field. Several of the key players during the Patriots 2006 Final Four run (Thomas, Campbell) paced GMU with 18 points each for the first 4-0 start in school history. I think the Patriots are going to be in another big season.
#14 Gonzaga 74, Western Kentucky 71
Another ranked team was nearly bitten at the Great Alaska Shootout. The Zags were cold for the first 35 minutes trailing most of the game. Anyone else thing Gonzaga is perpetually overrated now that they've garnered "major" status? What's not overrated was the Jeremy Pargo dunk.

Much like the UCLA-MSU game from Tuesday night this didn't feel like a November tune-up. Great win for the Blue Devils who continue to impress with many contributing underclassmen. Kyle Singler should be a household name by now with 25 points. I was still impressed by the Golden Eagles. Their man-to-man pressure defense in the backcourt is going to give the Big East fits.
Ohio State 79, #21 Syracuse 65
I know this may come as a shock, but the Big Ten might be ok this year. It's not just Michigan State and Indiana. Hopefully you got a good look at Kosta Koufos who will have a similar impact on the Buckeyes as Eric Gordon and the Hoosiers. Koufos brings a different and more flexible option to Ohio State this season as a big man. By the end of the year he could be unguardable by the rest of the conference's bigs.
