Georgetown vs. Belmont [Game info and open thread]
After a hot start to their season that included an 11-game winning streak, the Hoyas (23-8), slowed down a bit in Big East play, but still did enough to earn a No. 3 seed. Georgetown, with arguably the best defense in the Big East, is definitely capable of beating just about anyone--they beat Alabama, Louisville, Connecticut, South Florida, Marquette and Memphis (twice). John Thompson III's team is a star-less squad that wins with team defense and unselfish play.
Last year the Bruins were a popular pick to pull an upset in their first NCAA game but ultimately fell short. This year, Belmont (27-7) is back after winning the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament again with another chance at a big-conference foe. The Bruins play a fast game and score the ball as well as most any team in the nation. They averaged 81.5 points per game, which was good for 4th in the country. Despite being such a prolific scoring team, the Bruins don't have one go-to player. Rather they have about a half dozen players capable of contributing 10-15 points on a given night.
