Generally, words like “poker” and “Germans” are unlikely to be used side by side. Obviously, that’s wrong! The truth is, just like the rest of the world,
The 3rd day of the event was probably the most tensed, which took place at the deluxe Hyatt Regency in
The first pro to leave the arena was Raul Paez Corral, losing all his money against Kenny Hicks Jr..Corral, After him, Andreas Hagen was the next to fall, as Michael Schultze was more lucky and had better cards. Although there were no qeeens or clubs at the horizon for Hagen, he was “fried and baked” by the German player.
Day two devastated Andy Black, hitting on a shameful 24th position, after Craig Hopkins kicked his arse with style. However, along his glorious exit, Andy Black picked up 18,942 bucks, which is not bad! Afterwards, the poker “war” kept on chasing down some other top poker fellas like Dan Petersen, Henrik Gwinner, Piergiorgio D'Ancona and Kenneth Hicks Jr.. And then, there was silence… The crowd was numb, people were squintting, everything was tensed, and yes! The last Polish survivor in the tournamnet, namely Janusz Petlic, got all his money in preflop with his precious pocket eights. But, Petlic lost to a more skillful opponent, Sebastian Ruthenberg, who tabled some shiny nines and send the last native “survivor” back to his home!
Then, Ricardo Sousa won against
Meanwhile, Michael Schulze won a big hand against Jari-Pekka Juhola, but some magic kings sent Juhola home on a 14th place, with his hands full of 34, 724 bucks. As it was expected, Mehdi Ouakhir eliminated Ruthenberg on the 13th position. Antonio Battisti was next to exit. Unfortunately for him, he couldn't actually show Schultze who's the boss, but picked up 44, 188 bucks.
And since you've already been introduced to the nasty Jean Claude Perrot, known since he violently punched a table and injured hilmself on day 2, you'd be delighted to find out that the lost the final game with Sousa and went out, together with his wounded hand, placing on the 11th position (44,188 bucks).
“Thanks to” Schulze, Claus Nielsen succesfully made it on the 10th position (53, 657 bucks). Schulze ended the day second in chips to Sousa, and the two of them have actually held over half the total chips in play. In the end, Schultze proved that though recognition comes from the reputation of surviving the shark pool! He smashed its opponents and left home with a sack full of about 600,000 euro! Now, that’s what I call German value!
