There's a Manning playing in a conference championship game ... and it's not Peyton. Wha?
On a night where Atonement won best film during the worst awards ceremony ever, fitting that Eli Manning would make amends with the fans of New York. Although this wasn't so much about Eli as it was Tony Romo and a Cowboys team that played like they were all on vacation last week in Mexico.
I know it's not fair, but is criticism justified that Tony Romo didn't seem as focused and sharp as he should have been? It's mostly irrelevant, but I'd be lying if I didn't think it played a small role. The actual factor in Romo's lackluster day was the poor performance of the Cowboys offensive line.
As for Eli, can we finally give this guy a pat on the back? Manning did what he needed to do in this offense -- don't turn it over. 12 for 18, 162 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Now all is right with football. We'll have an NFC Championship Game at Lambeau Field. Do you give the Giants a chance?
I think the Giants have a chance, but it will be tough for their makeshift defense against the Packers' offense. Losing Ross was huge, and dislocated shoulder sounds like he won't be playing next week.
As long as the Giants stick to the running game and Eli continues to be efficient, they should be fine on offense. I think it will come down to special teams and defense.
Weather looks like its going to be really f'n cold, but at least not snowing.
