After the Giants' dramatic 10th inning victory over the Detroit Tigers last night, fans erupted into celebration throughout San Francisco. AT&T Park, Civic Center, and the Mission District all gave way to crowds of thousands who reclaimed the streets.

In the Mission, rowdy fans lit fireworks and turned compost piles and couches into (sometimes alarmingly) large street fires. Police and, eventually, the fire department stood by to keep an eye on the revelry.

It's weird in that two years ago there was none of this sort of thing. It was happy fans sanely celebrating. The fire stuff HAD to be from yahoos who saw this as an excuse to be stupid.
