Gonzaga vs. West Virginia [Game info and open thread]
Gonzaga (25-6) was the runner up in the West Coast Conference, and also the runner up in the conference tournament, both to St. Mary's. Mark Few's Bulldogs had a predictably good season, losing only twice to non-tournament teams. Like a typical Gonzaga team, this year's Bulldogs are very physical, efficient and strong on the boards. Freshman point guard Kevin Pangos is the team's leading scorer at 13.8 points per game.
About West Virginia:
After a pretty strong start to the season, the Mountaineers had to sweat out Selection Sunday thanks to an up-and-down Big East season. Bob Huggins' squad played a difficult schedule, and was ultimately rewarded for that. Don't be surprise if this game is close. West Virginia played six overtime games this season, going 4-2 in them. The Mountaineers are led by arguably the most dominant player in the Big East, the conference's leading scorer, senior forward Kevin Jones. Jones averages 20.1 points per game and also leads the team with 11.1 rebounds a game.
