Grading the Jets performance against the Dolphins, and how they should use Tebow
9/23/12 in NFL
The Jets offense looked stagnant against the poor pass defense of the Miami Dolphins. Nobody really expected the Jets to be able to run against the Dolphins who have a top 5 rushing defense in the NFL. 33 carries for 88 yards for a 2.7 YPC average is not impressive in the least. A suggestion would be to start using Tebow in the wildcat as a throwing threat or the defense will load the box and there will be nowhere for him to run. With one of the weakest secondaries in the NFL, Mark Sanchez wasn't able to take advantage of the Dolphins, looking mediocre at best, completing only 46.6% of his passes. If Mark Sanchez does not improve upon his performances of his last 2 games, the Tim Tebow chants will start getting louder. As for the defense, they were unable to record a sack against a rookie QB and couldn't stop the run of a team that cannot pass. The defense needs to tighten up, plain and simple and losing Darrelle Revis doesn't help the cause. The Jets only won this week because of 2 missed field goals by Dan Carpenter. Hopefully they can fix the issues against the 49ers next week, but chances are the 49ers will handle the Jets without too many problems in week 4.
