Ah, summer. The time of year when women take to beaches and play volleyball while wearing very little clothing. Today, NBC will be showing the AVP Crocs Tour Manhattan Beach Open at 4:30pm Eastern (1:30 Pacific). Even though today's sports slate is full, I suggest checking in and checking out these fine athletes.

Ah, winter. The time of year that until this year had no women's beach volleyball action. Fortunately for all of us, the AVP is going to change that. Starting this January, they are going to be launching "Hot Winter Nights", an indoor beach volleyball tour that will be playing in arenas all across the country.

Players expected compete are Kerri Walsh, Misty May-Treanor, Elaine Youngs, Jake Gibb, Sean Rosenthal, Phil Dalhauser, Todd Rogers and Stein Metzger.

Yes, there is men's volleyball too, but the point of this post is: women's beach volleyball is a good idea any time of year.
