One of my favorite expressions of all time is "This may not mark the end of civilization as we know it, but you can definitely see it from here."Never has a saying been more appropriate for a story than this one.
It seems that a group of Wisconsinites, who've been sucking on the Brett Favre teat for years, can't ween themselves from the old gunslinger. And as a result, they're now doing what people who have no lives do - protesting stuff that has no business being protested.
About 200 people rallied outside Lambeau Field on Sunday to pressure the Packers into reinstating Brett Favre as the team's starting quarterback.I bet Aaron Rodgers just LOVES all of this.
The crowd — many wearing No. 4 jerseys — chanted, "We want Brett" and carried signs reading, "Favre for President."
By the way, at what point can we say that the Packers are absolutely going to blow this year because of this fiasco? If they reinstate Favre and don't trade him, the instant Rodgers throws a pick the fans will be howling for Favre. If they reinstate Favre and trade him, and he performs better than Rodgers does, you'll immediately hear fans say "We never should have traded Favre!" And if they somehow force Favre to re-retire, they'll get blamed as soon as Rodgers throws a pick for not having Favre on the bench. It's literally a no win situation.
And you know what, this is literally all Favre's fault. And I'm tired of fat, stupid, brown-nosing columnists like Peter King for protecting Favre. So wait Peter King, tell me how this isn't Favre's fault again?
What he [Favre] does not want to do is ruin his legacy in Wisconsin and prevent his three-year backup Aaron Rodgers -- who Favre does not want to screw -- from taking his rightful place as the Packers starting QB in 2008.Yes, of course! He absolutely does NOT want to screw Rodgers, which is why he's put the Packers in a position where Rodgers gets nothing but screwed. And his legacy, of course he doesn't want to ruin his legacy, which is why he tried to pull a "I'm Brett Favre! I'm a legend!" power move by telling the Packers to release him unconditionally. What are you kidding me? The guy's done literally everything wrong.
I'd tell Peter King to stick his head you know where, but you know what, it's already there.
So anyway, who knows how this will end, but I can tell you one thing, it certainly won't end well.
