Crosby has not been in his best form for a while so this is great news for him. And he has improved remarkably. His kicks have become ever more accurate and one went precise at 52 yards. However, these stats also tell a different story. It also means that the Packers offense is managing to get to the red zone or near it but are failing to end their drives into touchdowns.
The Packers have an average of 32 points, four touchdowns, 457.7 yards per game and 6.7 yards per play. Even though these are some impressive stats, it would seem that the offense is failing to finish the job. But stats done lie. They really are failing to finish the job.
Even though they are doing well, the Packers have left many opportunities of points only because of bad decisions. Some are blaming it on bad play calls, some on the defense and some are attributing it to shortage of new tactics.
The worst part is that any fan or analyst who has been following the Packers for a while, especially this season will know this well that they have everything they need to make this season the best one in their history so far. The Packers have exhibited a game involving running tactics that are actually successful. This hasn’t happened in quite a while. But all this counts for nothing when they enter the red zone.
The Packers are also boasting a defense that hasn’t been this good in many years. It has helped them beat the Lions. Even so, they failed to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals or the San Francisco 49ers. And the problem lies at one point only: the touchdowns. If they want to make it to the playoffs, they will have to solve their problem.
Their field goal kicker might be doing his job and scoring field goals while improving from his bad performance last year but that won’t cut it. Field goals aren’t the answer to their end zone problems.
It is obvious that the Packers now their weaknesses and this will be given special attention when they go to their practices. With so much invested in this year’s team, it will definitely help to solve solidify this weakness and the touchdowns will start pouring in.
