Blog Photo - HBO aiming for Falcons on "Hard Knocks"Since Rex Ryan won't soften his stance on "Hard Knocks", HBO appears ready to begin courting other teams. According to a report on ESPN New York, HBO is now shooting for the Falcons.

The Atlanta Falcons, that is. The Dirty Birds are emerging as the lead candidate to be featured on the 2012 edition of "Hard Knocks" now that the New York Jets are reportedly denying the show's invitation.

For Falcons fans, this must be even cooler than seeing Bobby Petrino fired over a humiliating mistress-on-a-motorcycle incident.

ESPN New York's Rich Cimini scooped the news shortly after Rex Ryan vetoed the Jets' participation. "The Atlanta Falcons have emerged as a strong contender for this season's version of the HBO reality series, according to sources," Cimini wrote.

The Falcons have one thing going for them in their "Hard Knocks" candidacy, and that's the insane behavioral style of one Roddy White. Roddy White is the fellow pictured upside-down there in the photo above. He once busted out a "Free Mike Vick" t-shirt during a live NFL telecast. He has openly criticized league comissioner Roger Goodell's generous salary on his Twitter account. His mom once stole his credit cards after he had blown $7 million in a year, just to keep White out of bankruptcy.

Last year, Lions Ndamukaong Suh taunted quarterback Matt Ryan when Ryan was on the ground injured, and then Suh called the injury "karma". Plus, Falcons defensive end Kroy Biermann is banging a Real Housewife of Atlanta, with baby No. 2 on the way.

Unlike some of the Jets, Biermann can actually remember his kids names.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have reportedly offered themselves to be featured on this year's "Hard Knocks", but they happen to be  the least appealling franchise in the league. Reports note that HBO has also reached out the the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers, with a possible "dual-angle" that would cover the head coaching Harbaugh brothers.

What are their names again? We got, ummmm, Jim, who is 48.... ummm, we got John, ummmm, he's 49....
