Taking a study break, I checked the Pens score. I saw that the Pens were up 4-1 in the closing minutes of the 3rd period, so I decided to keep watching the update until the end of the game. Tonight's Pens-Islanders game could go down as one of the most lopsided games in NHL history, not because of the score, but because of saves and shots on goal. The final score was 4-2, the game just ended a couple minutes ago. The Pens scored 4 goals on only 21 shots...sounds similar to Danny Sabourin's crappy game about a month ago against Washington when the Pens lost thanks to Sabourin letting 4 goals go by in less than 15 shots...almost as bad, but not quite. On the other end of the ice was the man I wrote about as a possible savior of the season for the Pens. That of course would be the new ace goalie, Ty Conklin. He's had some incredible games, but tonight was his greatest performance of his NHL career. He allowed 2 goals on 52 shots. Let me say that again, 2 goals on 52 shots...Conklin made 50 saves! This guy is unbelieveable. He faced more shots than he has in any game he's started for the Pens this year, and he would not be deterred! Way to go, Conklin! The Pens didn't get too many shots on goal, but they made the most of them. The Islanders on the other hand threw everything but the kitchen sink at Ty Conklin, and he held his ground! Sabres, is it safe to say you're all kicking yourselves now for never giving this man a chance? Malkin may have scored a goal and an assist, and the offense was on fire tonight, but you were the hero once again, Conklin! I'm glad the Pens gave you a chance, Ty...you're one hell of a goalie!![]()
BK over and out.
