I understand the college football rankings only matter after the final weekend of the season, but that doesn't mean we should completely ignore some of the idiocy that takes place between now and then.
As you likely know, the Harris Interactive College Football Poll makes up one-third of the final BCS Standings. The USA Today Coaches Poll makes up another third, while the average of six computer rankings make up the final portion. So with that in mind, the Harris Poll probably doesn't get the attention and criticism it deserves.
I think that will now change.
Check out this portion of this week's Harris Poll:

What's wrong with this picture? Oh right, some idiot voted Utah No. 1. Yes, someone believes that the Runnin' Utes are better than Texas, Alabama and Penn State to name a few of the actual best teams in the country.
Utah sports wins over Oregon State and Michigan. Not bad, but when that's the best you've got to offer, no top 10 consideration can be taken seriously.
The Harris Poll is comprised of 114 former players, coaches, administrators and current and former media that have been selected to participate. And now it's officially a joke.
The only logical explanation here is that one of the Harris pollsters is a mole whose goal is to rid the entire BCS system with his/her inexplicable ranking of non-BCS schools. If that's the case, then more power to him/her. If not, let's just throw this thing out.
