It might just be a case of sour grapes from a guy who lost his closer role and couldn't earn it back, but it doesn't seem all that crazy when Heath Bell says he doesn't respect Ozzie Guillen.Guillen has been known to say and do ridiculous things, and it's hard to take him seriously at all. When a team underachieves as much as his Marlins have this year, it makes it even harder.
Bell seems to believe that he wasn't given a real chance to earn his job back, and that Guillen wasn't honest with him about it.
From an interview on a Miami sports radio show:
"I stunk in April, plain and simple. I said I stunk, I worked hard, I busted my butt. I think I’ve had a tremendous second half. I’m not closing–I know that. But I just kept my mouth shut because I want to regain what I had, and I feel like I can’t do that. It’s hard to respect a guy that doesn’t tell you the truth or doesn’t tell you face-to-face. There’s probably reasons why. It’s just one of those things that–what you see is what you get. I’m not going to be two-faced. I’m not going to sneak around your back and say this and that."
Knowing Guillen, it's pretty likely that he'll respond to Bell's comments pretty soon. This might get really interesting.
