Heisman Trophy Presentation Live Comment Thread
READ MORE:
I suppose we should have named this the "Watch all these regurgitated stories before Tim Tebow Wins the Heisman" thread.

StiffArmTrophy.com has compiled a portion of the votes that have been announced by individual ballot holders and their projection is that Tim Tebow wins by a fair margin. I think it's fairly obvious the Florida QB will take home the trophy by I'm predicting by a very slim margin. I believe more voters than suspected will continue to prefer the upperclassmen and give the nod to McFadden and even longshots Chase Daniel and Colt Brennan.

Outside of the top, I'll be curious to see where defense standouts Glenn Dorsey and James Laurinaitis finish. I'm going to say Dorsey sneaks into the Top 8 which is quite an accomplishment for someone who doesn't see the football.

Alright, it's about underway so if you'd like to Q it up, here's your place.

They keep talking about how close this race is, and how many different front-runners there have been. But does anyone honestly think that Chase Daniel was REALLY the front-runner at any time? Or even Colt Brennan? I'm a huge Brennan fan, but there's no way he deserved to be in New York this year.

And it annoyed me that the announce in the montage had a lisp. Why, when the only thing you can hear is someone's voice, would you pick a guy with a speech impediment? Call me shallow, but that's annoying.

I agree, it was annoying. Darren McFadden could become only the 3rd back to back Heisman runner up. Glenn Davis from Army in 1944 and 1945 and Charlie Justice from North Carolina in 1948 and 1949.

ha, yeah that was a little odd.

I think for a stretch there from week 5-10 there was a different leader each week. McFadden, Dixon, Ryan, Tebow, McFadden, Dixon, Tebow ... so in that respect it was fairly open but I agree it's been wrapped up for a few weeks now.

Which makes it even more ridiculous that Dixon isn't there. Brennan missed as much time as Dixon.

I was hoping Dixon and Pat White would have at least gotten an invite. The only reason they aren't there is because of injury. I'm not sure what voter it was, but some ESPN personality said he was going with Dixon #1.

What happens if lots of people did the same?

I think it would be hilarious if the trophy went to someone who wasn't even there and everybody stood around not knowing what to do.

Nice hair job, Houston Nutt. I totally believe that's your natural hair color.

I don't think that would happen because I think they invite the guys they know will be in the top how many ever they invite. But that would be hilarious.

Is there a live thread for the fight tonight?  My gf is in NYC (no not for the Heisman) so I ordered it on kind of a spur of the moment thing.  Anyone else planning on watching it?

Yea, I know I haven't heard any of these stories all week on either TV or on the internet.

Speaking of being courageous ... do you think Jimmy Clausen got a few votes?

He isn't there in New York to accept his Heisman? This is the presentation of the runner up right?

Did Chase Daniel just kiss Tebow?

I can live with that.

At least they chose the right guy.

You're welcome, Timmy. And tell us one more time...how do you feel about being a Gator?

I don't blame him, but sometimes it's funny to see players who aren't nervous in front of 100,000 but incredibly nervous in front of a TV.

I'm surprised he hasn't said he loves FanIQ yet.

I think Tebow loves being a Gator.

Tim Tebow makes Jon Kitna look like Marilyn Manson.

So does the Heisman curse continue? Only Leinart and Palmer won their bowl games the year they won the Heisman in this decade at least.

Wow, just a little hyperbole from Kirk and Lee.

17 people put Dixon first. Which is almost as many as Chase Daniel got.

Wait a second... How can the Hesiman be in two places at once?

I declare this to also be the Bowl Mania Live Comment Thread. Not much else on, and since it's on ESPN, there will be plenty to mock.

Who is that guy next to Mark May? I've never seen him before.

Did Mark May really just say that the voters finally got it right because they watched ESPN? Let the conspiracies fly.

They keep cutting around so I can't figure out who is sitting where, but is it Ed Cunningham?

So scoring 4 rushing TD's from under 4 yards and throwing for 3 is just as impressive as running for a rushing yards record in the "great" SEC?

I think that is who it is.

I call putting Jessie Palmers picks into our Bowl Pick'em Challenge.

12/8/07

Palmer will put Florida beating Michigan as his most confident pick.

12/8/07

So they just cut to Jesse Palmer while talking about the Rose Bowl and nobody made a Bachelor joke?

For shame.

That joke wrote itself.

What do we think Palmer's biggest confidence pick is now?

Georgia?

LSU? I will do that confidence poll and I would go Rutgers over Ball St. as my most confident.

Matt Wiener just said one of those "experts" is going to pick Hawaii to win.

12/8/07

I'll pick Boston College to win too but I think that's a pretty high percentage considering a somewhat overlooked factor that it will essentially be a home game for Michigan State.

And Mark May just picked Hawaii.

Unrelated, a very good game is on ESPN2 between Grand Valley State (40 straight wins) and NW Missouri State, 13-7 GVSU in the 2nd.   Very entertaining game, and it actually means something!!

The winner gets to go to the D-2 Championship game.  Playoff football is very exciting!

GVSU isn't all that familiar with close games.

Closer now, 13-10 at the half.  NW Missouri ST has played pretty well so far, they've got a pretty good shot.  They can't choke under pressure, GVSU has been there and most of the guys on that team don't know what a loss feels like.  I don't think they're going to let the Bearcats show them what a loss feels like.

12/8/07

So it looks like Palmer will go with Rutgers as his top confidence followed by Cincinnati, and then Purdue.

I think it's a bit funny when people get worked up over random games that they would have otherwise cared nothing about, simply because it's a "playoff" game.

I'm watching this game, because I was switching through, saw a football game, and the game was close and has been entertaining.  I can enjoy any good football game, playoff or not.  You've got the 2 time defending champion, who hasn't lost in 40 straight games, and they're losing.  Personally, I find that intriguing, but that's just the fan in me.

You should watch, it's been a very entertaining game, and GVSU right now has 3rd and goal.

FG GVSU, down by 1.

NW Missouri now leads 27-16, 10 minutes left in 4th Q.  Looks like we could have a different team winning the championship this year...
