Jeremy Hermida hit his 2nd and 3rd HR's in 2 days, and accounted for all of the Marlins' runs in a 3-2 win over the Cubs. Hermida also homered on Friday, which also was a huge part of a Marlins win. Saturday, Hermida had 2 solo HR's, and also scored on Jorge Cantu's 12th-inning RBI double.Rich Harden got a tough no-decision for the Cubs, after allowing only 2 hits and 1 run in 5 innings, while striking out an incredible 10 batters. It's a shame that Harden has the injury history that he does, because he was absolutely dominant, and likely would have continued past the 5th had he been permitted to throw more than 87 pitches last night.
Here's all you need to know about the rest of last night's games:
----- Other Games -----
AL:
Yankees 10, Red Sox 3 - Much like Justin Timberlake at the ESPY's, I don't want to talk about it. And I don't want you to talk about it either. The Sox need some bullpen help, and fast. Is Damaso Marte available?
Blue Jays 8, Mariners 3 - The Mariners have lost about a billion in a row. They play the Orioles in the beginning of next month. I think that's what it might take for them to win again.
Rangers 9, Athletics 4 - Josh Hamilton hit his 2nd HR in as many games. Obviously the Home Run Derby screwed up his swing... good thing A-Rod didn't participate.
Rays 5, Royals 3 - Carl Crawford: 2-4, 2 RBI, 2 3B ... Scott Kazmir: 5 IP, 2 R, 5 K
White Sox 7, Tigers 6 - Carlos Quentin: Beast. 2-4, 2 R, 2 RBI, 2-run HR (27th of the year, 1st in the AL)
Twins 11, Indians 4 - Brian Buscher (who?): 3-5, 1 R, 5 RBI, 3-run HR ... Delmon Young: 3-5, 2 R, 2 RBI
Angels 11, Orioles 6 - Torii Hunter: 3-3, 4 R, 5 RBI, 2 BB, only player in the MLB with 2 I's in a row in his name.
NL:
Phillies 10, Braves 9 - Well, Mike Hampton isn't on the DL ... yet. But you can be damn sure that his feelings were hurt, if nothing else. Hampton gave up 8 hits and 6 runs in only 4 innings. I guess that's about as much as you can expect from a guy who has been healthy for about 17 days total in the past 5 years.
Cardinals 10, Mets 8 (14 innings) - Albert Pujols: 5-8, 3 R, 3 RBI, 2-run HR in 14th inning. Stupid Mets... Seriously... if you give Albert Pujols 8 chances, he WILL beat you. Fact.
Rockies 5, Reds 1 - Jorge De la Rosa: 6.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 8 K, 5 BB, and 2 RBI's at the plate.
Brewers 6, Astros 4 - Ryan Braun: 4 RBI ... Ray Durham: 2-3, 3 runs ... Brewers at it again
Padres 9, Pirates 6 - Adrian Gonzalez: 3-5, 3 R, 4 RBI, 2 HR ... Kevin Kouzmanoff: 3-run HR
Diamondbacks 5, Giants 3 - Brandon Webb: 7 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 8 K, 2 BB ... Tim Lincecum: 7 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 13 K, 0 BB ... If anyone could win the Cy Young on an awful team, it's Lincecum. Quite the pitcher's duel here... 25 total K's in this game.
Dodgers 6, Nationals 0 - Derek Lowe: 8 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 4 K, 1 BB ... Casey Blake: 2-3, 1 R, 1 2B
-----Other MLB News -----
Manny Ramirez might be a huge d-bag.
Casey Blake is now a Dodger. But at what cost?
Ummm... Cardinals fans are dumb? I don't even know what to say about this one.
Streakers - In case any team tries to make history, I'm going to list the teams with the longest active winning and losing streaks. Today's streakers:
Yankees: 8 wins - I told you, I don't want to talk about it
Mariners: 7 losses
