After years and years of coming close but falling just short, Phoenix finally has its first basketball championship.Yes, the Mercury beat the Suns to their first title. I will now be throwing myself out the window. Don't worry though; I live on the first floor.
The Mercury won game 5 of the WNBA Finals over Bill Laimbeer's Detroit Shock, 108-92. Penny Taylor scored 30 points, while Diana Taurasi pitched in 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.

Pictured above: Mercury fans fill the streets of Phoenix in celebration.
All jokes aside, congrats to the ladies. Just like the Suns, you've changed your sport for the better, increasing scoring while making the game more exciting for the fans.
To the Suns: Match them. Please. I can't take another year without a championship.

Similarly, the WNBA Monarchs beat out the the Kings to claim Sacramento's first basketball championship. Actually, it was Sacramento's first championship in any sport, non-sport or anything else. And, sadly probably the last for a very long time.

If the Suns signed Taurasi they would get their title.
Oh yeah, congrats to the Mercury!
