High chances that Brandon Weeden may start for Browns against Chiefs
It is no secret that Weeden has not been giving his best performance for some time. Although he has been in the game he has shown no signs of improvement is still sloppy and makes mistakes. If he continues to slide down the bar the team may play Jason Campbell as the starting quarterback.
When the Browns go up against the Chiefs, they will be going up against the best. Their defense is currently the best in the entire NFL with 35 sacks. Baltimore Ravens are second with 25 sacks. The Chiefs also have nine fumble recoveries to win the top spot again.
On Monday, Browns players supported Weeden, but also said they'll respond well to a change if it comes.
Weeden has been constantly under scrutiny by the team and coach Rob Chudzinski said that he would have a meeting with the coaching staff on Monday and the matter would be discussed if Weeden should be benched or not. The Cleveland Browns said that they were content with Weeden and would happily play with him if the decision was to start with him but were also open to change and would accept it as well.
“I haven’t been here long enough, I’ve played a couple of games with him and from what I’ve seen, he might have made a couple plays that’s shouldn’t have been thrown but who says everything is going to be perfect?'' said Willis McGahee, running back for the Browns.
"I had some runs in the game that I could’ve took backside and I didn’t take it. It’s hard,” he said. “It’s hard for a quarterback to come out and be perfect especially with the history he’s had here, it’s even harder with everybody on him.
Willis McGahee said that even though people might say ill of Weeden and criticize his performance, he still respected him.
“I take my hat off to him because he still walks around with a smile on his face, still competitive. That right there shows what kind of character he has.”
